It was colonizedf by Belgium was once called Zaire(and in the capital city Kinshasa they heldone of the most famous boxing matches in History involving Mohamed Ali and George Foreman.
The D.R.C as its somtimes knowen is one of the least explored parts of Africa yet has some of the greatest reserves but due to many isues is still a very poor country.It has large areas of rainforest and is very green and lush)hope this helped,im from scotland in the uk i was in the Dem rep of Congo in 2006 very interesting:)
