edit: I agree completely with you. Calling for his firing is stupid. It should be used as a true education moment...not one to play politics. If Sarah wanted to educate people about this, she would have done it very differently...and would be calling out Rush for his BS as well.

It fell one vote short to break a GOP filibuster. Just as some Republicans, one or two anyway, sometimes vote with Democxrats, so do some Democrats vote with Republicans. They are known as Blue Dogs.

Read your entire article, this is by no means a blanket indictment of Democrats, its a clear example of why we have been caught in gridlock by Republicans who vote as a single mind on orders of their leadership. Unless you really want me to believe they all of a sudden all think like clones?

Because politicians were intended to be "for the people" - you know, one of us. The problem is, they're not. They're the rich elite, and they like to stay that way (which of course means that we have to stay in the middle class, or lower, to keep them happy.)

Have you ever seen Joe Smith from Alabama run for president? Or even the senate? No, of course not. Because Joe Smith doesn't have millions of dollars in the bank to pay for lobbying. He doesn't have "old money" corporate friends to sponsor his campaign with multi-billion dollar contributions. He doesn't have a summer cottage in New Hampshire. He doesn't fit in with the rich elite.

So what happens? They think we're stupid on purpose. They know that everyone can see through it, but that's part of the act. We get so focused on repeating "how dumb do you think we are?" that we forget to ask "and what are we going to do about it?"

So we continue sucking the government tit, feeling resentful over all of the political BS we see on TV, when the government - through their lobbyists and corporate friends - control what we see on TV anyway. They want us to see it. They want us to think that they think we're stupid.

Because it distracts us from what they're really doing.

Which, in a roundabout way, does make us pretty dumb - don't you think?
