Missouri Democratic Party

George Said:

US Catholic prelate and Vatican official: Democratic Party is a party of death...Your REACTIONS..?

We Answered:

While I agree with the Catholic Church's pro-life position which is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life," unfortunately no political party has a platform in line with Catholic social teaching.

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:

• All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms. (closer to Democratic platform)

• The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in vitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning (closer to Republican platform)

• The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanasia (closer to Republican platform)

• Prisoners in objecting to the death penalty (closer to Democratic platform)

• The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues (closer to Democratic platform)

Some Catholics are enthusiastically anti-abortion and align themselves with the Republican party.

Some Catholics align themselves with the Democratic party which supports the "Catholic" issues that effect the most people.

Neither party follows all Catholic teachings.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2259 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3s…

With love in Christ.

Audrey Said:

Which do you think is better, Democratic or Republican. I am going to turn eighteen soon, and I am not sure.?

We Answered:

I could tell you the basics of what each party stands for, but I won't. I do not want to influence your young mind. I suggest you forever register as an independent and do research and vote for those who you agree with most. You should never vote straight party lines for either party unless you feel it is necessary. All candidates have different ideas, morals, values, and minds, regardless of party affiliation. The best example I can give you is look at Harold Ford Jr. running for the U.S. house from Tennessee. He is supposed to be a democrat and does have some of the party's beliefs, but a lot of his beliefs are Republican values and he will be one of those in congress that votes on both sides of the isle. Almost every aspect of the life of those running for office or that are in office are public information and you can look up there voting records and where they stand on almost any issue. Good luck and have fun.

Penny Said:

can I get a copy of the Missouri ballot for Aug 8?

We Answered:

Since each town has a separate ballot (and some go down to the town council level) that's an awful amount of different ballots.

Check with the Missouri Secretary of State's office for statewide offices up for election.

Danielle Said:

Why is the democratic party considered more racially sensitive?

We Answered:
