Non Democratic Countries List

William Said:

Does Israel is "different" democracy? Jewish and Democratic?

We Answered:

Hello!

Being Israeli I obviously support the existence of my country and regard the democracy we institute very favorably.
Like every democracy we have flaws and faults, but apparently the alleged contradiction between the democratic and the Jewish characteristics of Israel, is no more different than other well-based democracies:

1) Britain, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and many other European democracies have crosses on their flags. Does this oppress these countries' non-Christian citizens and contradict their democratic nature?

2) Repatriation laws similar to the Israeli Law of Return are implemented in Germany, Greece, Finland, Poland, Hungary etc etc… For some reason it's considered racist only when it comes to Israel.

3) And shouldn't the American Independence Day be considered oppressing and offensive for the Native American minority, as it praises the American Declaration of Independence, that refer to them as " the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions "?

Renee Said:

list of countries which are still non-democratic?

We Answered:

To some degree, what is considered democratic is up to interpretation, but here's a general list:

Non-Democratic Governments

The worlds non-democratic or significantly non-democratic nations are classified in the categories below. See also Oppressive Regimes.

Monarchies With More Than Symbolic Power (Royal Dictatorships)

This section includes all non-symbolic monarchies. In many, there are no elections of any kind. In others, there is elected legislative input, but substantial executive and/or judicial power resides in a hereditary leader or very small hereditarily determined oligarchy.

I think that it's interesting that some of the US closest allies (Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, for example) are on the list of Non-Democratic countries.

ADDED: If you want to get technical, the US isn't a democracy, it's a democratic-republic.

Terrence Said:

Do you think the West can still claim democracy, accuse other countries of being non-democratic and sometimes?

We Answered:

The West ousted Mossadegh and installed him with the Shah and the SAVAK. The SAVAK was trained by Mossad and the CIA to torture political dissenters of the Shah's regime.

Yet, we bow down and kiss Abdullah.
