Politics is important, no matter what your age is. President Obama completely reformed the way the student loan process works. He got big banks and private lending companies out of the game because the gov't was giving them billions of dollars in subsidies (that's what Republicans do, they give welfare to rich people and companies while Democrats prefer to help out struggling people, seniors and young people). With the money saved the President put it into a pool of money that will be used to send 1.5 million students to college next year who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.

Young people now have health insurance coverage automatically under their parents until they're 26, which is a way better deal than what young people had before. He made it so that young people will have lower debts at their age then they typically do now.

And the other big thing he did was right a law for us young people that says if you go into a profession that is a gov't job, like teaching, or going into the military, anything that is a job having to do in the public sector, that over time your student loans will be forgiven if you stick with that career path. That's a wonderful change to the system that President Obama brought.

I'm a Democrat because I believe in equal pay for women, that women have the right to govern their own body (not the gov't), that gays should be able to serve open in the military and get married if they wish, and that we should invest in our country more instead of starting wars all the time.

Republicans believe that if you cut taxes and just keep cutting them, than all that money that rich people would get back would be put into jobs because rich people will spend, spend, spend and hire employees. The problem with that is that it's never happened. Cutting taxes doesn't create jobs. And rich people keep closing down American companies in order to ship those jobs overseas where they can get people to work like slaves for them. And Republicans want to reward them by cutting their taxes and giving them subsidies, which is ridiculous. Republicans are like the bully on the playground, always looking to punch somebody in the face instead of actually stopping and thinking, and I prefer the people like Obama who stop and think.

Obama got the Congress to get rid of the law that prevents gays from serving in the military, but when it came time for the Senate to pass it, John McCain (Republican) held it up and said he'd hold it up again, because he thinks that right now troops wouldn't be able to handle working alongside gay troops. He's an old stubborn white person whose set in his ways. Those are typical Republicans, and it's a club that I can't be in because they hate too much and love too little.
