i think i would say it like this.

dems would view the glass as too highly contended to actually try to do something about (have to take responsibility for doing something).

repubes would steal the glass and ask that it be replaced - over and over again - and deny ever taking it. then they'll hire a friends company to investigate the 'crime.'

There is no reason only political for gridlock the democrats control both houses of congress and could if they wanted override any of Bush's vetos. The reason they have done nothing in the pass 2 years is called political posturing. Having political ammo for winning back the white house which the only thing important to the democratic party. Had they accomplished what they were elected to do they could not blame the republicans and in thier minds win the election.

When it comes to family values and morals, Dems loose out. When it comes to education and common sense, Dems loose out. Dems are the "Anything goes" people. Most actors are Dems and look at the train wreck you find there. Divorces are rampant, sex, drugs, yep! You will find it by the truck load.

While Repubs seem to be the opposite. I am not saying they are not faultless, but they do have common sense and morals.

Mr. Bush has ruined the party, but there are signs of repair under way now.
