Anita Said:
If you were Nick Clegg, what would you have done after the election? We Answered:
You pretty much summed up my feelings exactly, there. It's not my first choice, but when you think that a mere two months before the election most people were bracing themselves for a majority conservative government, the current situation is at least a marginal improvement. If they can get the referendum for an alternate voting system through then that'll be a fair silver lining. It's easy to criticise Nick Clegg for joining up with the tories, but it's a far better option than having no role in the new government at all and just sitting in opposition pointing the finger.Adam Said:
If you are a Black-British or a British Asian person does the BNP regard you as not been really British? We Answered:
To give you a straight answer to your question, yes. If you are a Black-British or a British Asian person the BNP does not regard you as being truly British. In the hypothetical possibility that the BNP were to gain a size-able influence in British politics, they woulddefinitelyy support ridding Britain of all non-indigenous peoples. In the BNP's 'Rebuilding British Democracy' general election manifesto in 2005 (you can find this online on the BBC website), the BNP proposed "firm but voluntary incentives for immigrants and their descendants to return home". The descendants of the immigrants clearly refers here to those non-indigenous, ethnic minorities living in Britain exemplified by Black British and Asian British peoples.
According to the BNP's constitution, they are "committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration and to restoring, by legal changes, negotiation and consent the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948". It was after this period that mass-migration from other ethnic groups began. According to the BBC, on 22 June 1948, the Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury in London, delivering hundreds of men from the West Indies. Many had returned to rejoin the RAF. Others had been encouraged by adverts for work. The day marked what would become a massive change to British society - the start of mass immigration to the UK and the arrival of different cultures. The increase in immigrants since that date has in turn fuelled the BNP's increasing xenophobia.
The BNP restricts party membership to "indigenous British ethnic groups deriving from the class of ‘Indigenous Caucasian’. Hence I would assume that this illustrates the party's hostility towards British Blacks or British Asians. However, they apparently accept that immigrant whites are assimilated into one of those ethnicity's.
Considering the BNP's political ideology also in part amounts to a form of racialism, and considers that individuals will naturally hold a preference for their own race, I'm certain that their vision for Britain does not include British Asians or Blacks.
In 2002, the BNP also expelled one member, regional organiser, Kenneth Francis, of Newham, East London, when it was revelaed that his girlfriend was an Ecuadorian asylum seeker. This was apparently inconsistent with the BNP's opposition to interracial relationships.
The BNP views non-white citizens as being inherently "less British" than their white counterparts, and hence have adopted a policy of encouraging the "repatriation" of ethnic minorities such as British Blacks and Asians.
On 17 May 2009, The Daily Telegraph reported that the BNP's leader, Nick Griffin, had branded Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry VC, a black Grenada-born British Army recipient of the Victoria Cross an "immigrant" whose bravery was simply "routine". The Telegraph alleged that the BNP website called Beharry VC's award of the Victoria Cross "positive discrimination by the PC-mad government". Beharry was awarded his Victoria Cross in 2005 for action in Iraq, when he returned to his burning armoured personnel carrier three times, under sustained enemy fire, to lift out his wounded comrades from the vehicle. Does the BNP leaders words not demonstrate hostility towards British Blacks? To deprive a soldier of his commendation simply due to the colour of his skin is incomprehensible.
If given the chance, the BNP would deport all non-white immigrants and their descendants, no doubt. However, whether this would be through forcible repatriation or incentive schemes to return to their original homelands is still uncertain. The cost of returning every single immigrant would be immense and a huge financial drain on the UK. I fail to see how Britain would find the funds to deport all non-indigenous peoples.
The BNP is undoubtedly an essentially racist, xenophobic party, of no particular ideological substance - namely due to the fact that it has changed its positions on many issues , i.e. their view on Jews which they once villified - which often has fascist and nazist overtones. However, it has the most potential to still be a Nazi party due to the many Nazist beliefs it suscribes to i.e. opposition to miscegenation, homosexuality, racialism, violence and the potential of forcible repatriation (if considered) to emulate the Nazi policy of extermination of an entire group of people at a local level.
Allen Said:
what's Bryn Glas and why should it be saved for the Welsh nation? We Answered:
The Battle of Bryn Glas, (sometimes referred to in English accounts as the Battle of Pilleth - although Bryn Glas translates as grey or blue hill) was fought on 22 June 1402, near the towns of Knighton and Presteigne in Powys. It was a great victory for the Welsh rebels under Owain Glynd?r, and it resulted in the prolongation of the Welsh rebellion and the destabilisation of English politics for several years afterwards.Joanne Said:
Has Nick Clegg proven that all party's are corrupt in UK politics? We Answered:
I think this was proved beyond any doubt with the expenses scandal, pre dated by the escapades of countless generations of politicians, it would make an interesting poll. how manifestos promises have been made v how many were broken v how many policies arrive without any by your leave. This would then cause us to look at the requirement to make a manifesto a legally binding document.
The electorate at least then could feel that they knew what they were voting to have done and that it would be done.
