What Are Democratic Rights
Bobby Said:
Is is true that the all of the house of representatives is democratic right now?We Answered:
No, not all of our House of Representatives is Democrat controlled, just most of it. So much so, that if all Democrats united (very rare), they would easily have sufficient majority to overpower any Republican attempt to block a vote.Yes, there is a major concern about a single party holding control of the Executive and Legislative branches of government, but they are relatively weak when compared to the Judicial branch.
Edit: No (to the uninformed posters below me), the Democrats do not have a majority in the Senate, it's a virtual deadlock with 49-49-2 (Democrats-Republicans-Independents).
Willard Said:
Is a democratic gov't ever justified in suspending democratic rights in order to defend democracy? We Answered:
The question is if safety is more important then freedom. It seems that each time the question comes up a little more freedom is lost. But how much freedom can we loose before our own government becomes the tyrant. I think that we have already voted for safety so much that safety can now be defined by those in power. And our rights are now for safety and not freedom.Helen Said:
What are democratic rights?We Answered:
You have only one democratic right! That is: It is your right on election day to put a check mark to the name of the person who you think should do the thinking for you!

What are the democratic rights we enjoy today which can be traced to the French revolution? We Answered:
None, really. The French Revolution was a terrible failure that ended by eating its own in the Terror, and then burying itself in the Napoleonic years simply to find some semblence of order. The Ideals of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity were the products of the British Liberal tradition of Locke and Hume. They were realized in the American Revolution, but would not be present in France until the 3rd RepublicDwayne Said:
what happens when democratic rights are violated? We Answered:
it becms illegal....n subject 4 strict punishmentNorman Said:
What are the rights possessed by a person arrested by police under ordinary circumstances? We Answered:

4. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish.
5. If you decide to answer questions now without an attorney present you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney.
6. Once you are booked, you will be allowed to make a phone call.
