Bryan Said:

What do rebulicans stand for and what do the democrats stand for?

We Answered:

Generally republicans are conservative on most issues and democrats are liberal on most issues. What that means exactly varies issue by issue.

Fiscally, Republicans are generally for less regulation and freer markets, which tends to create more wealth faster, but also can spiral out of control. Democrats are generally for regulated capitalism, closer to socialism, which places an increased emphasis on not only how much wealth there is, but how many people can partake in it.

Socially, Republicans tend to want to preserve the status quo, Democrats tend to want to progress toward broader acceptance.

Militarily, Republicans come in two main varieties, some who want to pull back the military and use it just to protect our boarders, or, more common today, extend our military to export peace and democracy. Democrats tend to see the world as a more complicated place and have no single overarching policy, recognizing that different problems require different solutions.

Religiously, Republicans have traditionally been the more religious party, strongly influenced in the last 30 years by Christian fundamentalists, though that is less true than it used to be. Religious minorities, along with other types of minorities, trend strongly Democrat for the most part (with some exceptions, of course).

Of course these are general trends. Every individual Democrat and every individual Republican is different, some at the broad levels I've outlined, some with more of the details, but there is no one set of beliefs that completely captures the members of either party.

However, the most general difference is that Democrats see the world as a more complicated place than Republicans do and their responses to the same issues tend to be more nuanced.

Lucille Said:

In American politics what do Republicans and Democrats stand for?

We Answered:

Ok im gonna answer your question without talking trash about who i don't like :)

Republicans: are conservative. they believe in limited government, a strong national defense, self-responsibility, capitalism, the free market, really they just believe that people should be able to live their lives the way they want with little government involvement.

Democrats: they are not conservative. They believe in bigger government, more government involvement in the market all that.

Both parties want to make the U.S. a better nation and want to help the people, they just have different ways of doing it. They are rival parties and I think they get out of control with hating each other so dang much... we need to work together to make this country better, not just point fingers at each other!

Sonia Said:

What do Republicans Stand for and what do Democrats Stand for?

We Answered:

Republicans stand for anything George W. Bush tells them too, even if it is a complete repudiation of everything the Republican Party has ever stood for.

Sadly though, the Democratic Party stands for not standing up to George W. Bush either.
