What Does Democratic Mean
Ashley Said:
what does democratic mean?We Answered:
It depends on your personal thoughts. Take a look at these examples, and you decide which one you agree with more.Abortion:
Democrats: It's the woman's right to choose and should therefore be legal
Republicans: It should not be legal and the government should restrict it as such.
Gun Control Laws:
Democrats: More gun control laws are needed to address a seemly growing problem with guns
Republicans: Oppose more gun control laws, citing that it's not what the Constitution calls for.
Discrimination:
Democrats: It's up to the government to step in and provide a “net” to victims of this practice
Republicans: Strong anti-discrimination laws are unnecessary. People have morals, as they say, and should be given the benefit of the doubt
Military:
Democrats: Prefers a decrease military spending. This party also likes to utilize NATO and the UN; never wanting to truly go in “alone” on world issues.
Republicans: They are known for increasing military spending. They also tend to want to stand alone when dealing with NATO and the United Nations.
Gay Rights:
Democrats: Usually for gays rights and believe it's apart of their civil rights to be with whom ever they choose.
Republicans: Tend to hold the view that marriage should be between people of the opposite sex, not the same.
Minimum Wage:
Democrats: Favor the workers and always seem to support minimum wage hikes.
Republicans: Don't normally favor minimum wage increases because they say is hurts businesses.
Death Penalty:
Democrats: Does not agree with taking someone's life as a means of discipline.
Republicans: The death penalty is necessary to curb violent crimes.
Prayer in schools:
Democrats: There should be a separation between church and state
Republicans: It's apart of our nation's culture to place prayer in school and keep it that way.
Flag Burning:
Democrats: Flag burning is acceptable because it falls under freedom of speech
Republicans: Flag burning is unacceptable and is not what the constitution intended.
Natural Environment:
Democrats: The environment need to be protect and it's the government's job to enforce laws against harming the environment
Republicans: Have some environment laws but don't make them too strong, could do more harm than good.
Taxes:
Democrats: The people with the most money should pay the most taxes, tax increases are mostly good.
Republicans: the entire economy can benefit if taxes remain relatively low, tax cuts are the way to go.
I hope that helps even though you were so mean to me for my question. Hope you have a great day

What does parliamentary democratic mean?We Answered:
A parliamentary system is a system of government wherein the ministers of the executive branch are drawn from the legislature, and are accountable to that body, such that the executive and legislative branches are intertwined. In such a system, the head of government is both de facto chief executive and chief legislator.Parliamentary systems are characterized by no clear-cut separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches, leading to a different set of checks and balances compared to those found in presidential systems. Parliamentary systems usually have a clear differentiation between the head of government and the head of state, with the head of government being the prime minister or premier, and the head of state often being a figurehead, often either a president (elected either popularly or by the parliament) or a hereditary monarch (often in a constitutional monarchy).
The term parliamentary system does not mean that a country is ruled by different parties in coalition with each other. Such multi-party arrangements are usually the product of an electoral system known as proportional representation. Many parliamentary countries, especially those that use "first past the post" voting, have governments composed of one party. However, parliamentary systems in continental Europe do use proportional representation, and tend to produce election results in which no single party has a majority of seats. Proportional representation in a non-parliamentary system does not have this result (Arguelles, 2009).
Parliamentarianism may also be for governance in local governments. An example is the city of Oslo, which has an executive council as a part of the parliamentary system. The council-manager system of municipal government used in some U.S. cities bears many similarities to a parliamentary system.
FOR SLOVAKIA
The 150-seat unicameral National Council of the Slovak Republic is Slovakia's sole constitutional and legislative body. It considers and approves the Constitution, constitutional statutes and other legal acts. It also approves the state budget. It elects some officials specified by law as well as the candidates for the position of a Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic and the Prosecutor General. Prior to their ratification, the parliament should approve all important international treaties. Moreover, it gives consent for dispatching of military forces outside of Slovakia's territory and for the presence of foreign military forces on the territory of the Slovak Republic.
The parliament may vote only if a majority of all its members (76) are present. To pass a decision the approval of a simple majority of all MPs present is required (i.e. at least 39 votes). Almost all legal acts can be adopted by this relative majority. An absolute majority (76 votes) is required to pass a vote of no-confidence in the Cabinet or its members, or to elect and recall the Speaker or the Deputy Speakers. A qualified majority of 3/5 of all deputies (at least 90 votes) is required for the adoption of a constitution or a constitutional statute.

How does hitler show democratic leadership? We Answered:
Hitler (and I have read ALL the key texts and thousands of original documents) never did anything by way of genuine leadership or idea generation, and particularly not in a democratic context. Indeed, he was a fairly typical, right wing lunatic, no NEW ideas at all of any kind, simply built huge murder machinery and established a merciless regime to kill millions because of his mad paranoia.Answer: NO, a million times NO.
Crackpot despots NEVER do that. And by the way, he never had even a 51% majority in the German election. Hindenburg chose him to lead the coalition, but Hitler had a rather different concept of how to do that, and became "Fuehrer" on Hindenburg's death. That 90% + figure is way wrong. You may have some figures from ANSCHLUSS with Austria, but I refuse to look up third-rate links from drivel websites when I have much better data right in my library by the ton.
This is all veriable in the valid literature pointed out by the fellow above.
Jonathan Said:
what does the democratic process mean to you?We Answered:
In America, A democratic process works in several ways. I see primarily as political and economic democracy. As Karl Marx said “Democracy is the road to socialism.” which is why it is important to have a constitution to protect individuals/minorities from oppression. Another said "Democracy is indispensable to Socialism." – V.I. Lenin
In contrast Jefferson said "The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society."
So when any important issues affecting the life of an individual are decided by somebody else, it makes no difference to the individual whether that somebody else is a king, a dictator, or society at large.
In our constitutional republic with a representative democracy, we have the ability to elect candidates to represent our city council, district, state, etc. It allows for the peaceful transition of elected officials without the blood or violence (without democracy) to remove and re-institute new elected officials.
The constitution protects the government from the people therefore, a direct democracy is incompatible with our constitution and something our founders understood. Why? because individual rights are not subject to a public vote. The minority needs to be protected by the majority which is why many in America are such advocates of individual rights and why individualism in general is such a strong tradition. The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.
An extension of individual rights, is rights to participate in the democracy of the market. One consequence of liberty is the freedom to trade voluntarily value for value in the marketplace. In other words, freedom of mutual exchange to mutual gain (If one person did not benefit from the transaction, the trade would not have taken place).
Some quotes to illustrate better than my words.
“When we call a capitalist society a consumers' democracy we mean that the power to dispose of the means of production, which belongs to the entrepreneurs and capitalists, can only be acquired by means of the consumers' ballot, held daily in the marketplace.” - classical liberal- Ludwig von Mises-
"The real bosses in the capitalist system of market economy are the consumers. They by their buying and by their abstention from buying decide who should own the capital and run the plants. They determine what should be produced and in what quantity and quality. Their attitudes result either in profit or in loss for the enterpriser. They make poor men rich and rich men poor. They are no easy bosses." Ludwig von Mises
"What we call the market is really a democratic process involving millions, and in some markets billions, of people making personal decisions that express their preferences. When you hear someone say that he doesn't trust the market, and wants to replace it with government edicts, he's really calling for a switch from a democratic process to a totalitarian one." - Classical Liberal- Dr. Walter E. Williams
Dont confuse classical liberalism with modern 'liberalism'.

As you can see, I believe the most power an individual has is in the democratic market process.
