Afghan Elections 2010

Annette Said:

So, it's 1, 2, 3, 4, what are we fighting for?

We Answered:

Rich Man's War

Jimmy joined the army ‘cause he had no place to go
There ain’t nobody hirin’
‘round here since all the jobs went
down to Mexico
Reckoned that he’d learn himself a trade maybe see the world
Move to the city someday and marry a black haired girl
Somebody somewhere had another plan
Now he’s got a rifle in his hand
Rollin’ into Baghdad wonderin’ how he got this far
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war

Bobby had an eagle and a flag tattooed on his arm
Red white and blue to the bone when he landed in Kandahar
Left behind a pretty young wife and a baby girl
A stack of overdue bills and went off to save the world
Been a year now and he’s still there
Chasin’ ghosts in the thin dry air
Meanwhile back at home the finance company took his car
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war

When will we ever learn
When will we ever see
We stand up and take our turn
And keep tellin’ ourselves we’re free

Ali was the second son of a second son
Grew up in Gaza throwing bottles and rocks when the tanks would come
Ain’t nothin’ else to do around here just a game children play
Somethin’ ‘bout livin’ in fear all your life makes you hard that way

He answered when he got the call
Wrapped himself in death and praised Allah
A fat man in a new Mercedes drove him to the door
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war

Felicia Said:

Have we suceeded in bringing a fair and just democractic system to Afghanistan?

We Answered:

I keep asking myself that very same question.
I also keep asking myself why are allied forces being killed and injured in Afghanistan?
Karzai has now placed his own nominees in positions to administer the fairness of elections which have been proved to be fraudulent.
There will never be any confidence in the Afghani voting and political systems whilst Karzai remains in power.

Maureen Said:

Who were trying to strike at Pakistan cross-border sanctuaries, & seek reconciliation w/ Afghani insurgents?

We Answered:

Sounds good to me, I hope it all work for the best.

Sarah Said:

Is American Ally Karzai 'mentally unstable'?

We Answered:

His brother is a major drug lord. Word on the street is that he is using a bit much of Afghanistan's most profitable export.

Marcia Said:

Should WikiLeaks leak more documents?

We Answered:

It could endanger national security. We need to stop them...

Elaine Said:

Should WikiLeaks leak more documents?

We Answered:

Give 'em time. They can't help themselves.

But should they? I have mixed feelings about that.

Anything that has direct and immediate tactical relevance on the ground should not be released. Period. If they do so and even one of our soldiers is harmed they should be taken out back and shot.

Having said that, it is difficult for me to imagine anything being of immediate tactical relevance in their possession. Especially since we have effectively pulled out all combat troops from Iraq.

As for the strategic stuff? That also depends. If it is current then it in no way should be released. And this gets to be a little more subjective. I recognize and support the "publics right to know" but I also believe there are things that should not be released because of the potential harm.

I wish I knew where to draw the line. But I suspect that even if I did, someone else would disagree with where I placed it.
