yep thats the hope, maybe we can lose our national annual blood sport. So we can get things actually done, infrastructure, hospitals and education. streamlining renewable resource goals into national progressive guidelines. Theres a lot of neglect to deal with.

When they finish counting sufficient votes in enough electorates to give either Labor or the Liberal/National coalition a victory. The party that gets the most seats in the House of Representatives (the lower house) not the most votes all over, is the party that wins the election in Australia.

I like Kevin Rudd as far as politicians go and think that labor have finally made the right choice with him. He's highly intelligent and articulate and has the respect of our Asian neighbours (which Howard and Downer certainly don't). He also speaks fluent Mandarin (Chinese). I also find his socialist-Christian perspectives refreshing even though I'm not a Chrstian (I just can't stand those wealth-mad Hillsong lunatics getting government funding).
So far, I think he's been impressing the Australian population for the most part - they are seeing his potential.

As for the economy, yeah, sure, Liberal have run budget surpluses but they take a lot more than they give (GST!). I'd be rich too if I took heaps and gave little back. But as we are learning it's not all about fiscal management - the Reserve Bank control the interest rates, not the government. I don't believe all the Liberal's self-promoting puff and hype about how they are such economic heroes. The world was rather different last time Labor was in power and I can't see any reason why they couldn't handle the economic management responsibilities with a team of decent educated economic policy advisers in their ranks.
