Cook County Board Of Elections

Tiffany Said:

what are your concerns abvout Barack Obama's possible bid for the presidency?

We Answered:

he's going to get destroyed in all of the primaries. Any of the democrats that are going against him, just have to point out his lack of experience in international, domestic, etc. affairs. He's just trying to make a name for himself and hopefully his 15 minutes of fame are going to be up soon.

Don't think with the middle name of Hussain, that many people will vote for him anyway.

Shawn Said:

How many of you will pay attention to City Council and local votes in November?

We Answered:

It's started to happen that cities and municipalities are trying to establish themselves policy-wise in direct opposition to standing federal laws regarding immigration. If push comes to shove,
and the state governors have to act, they may find themselves disincorporated, which in some cases might not be such a bad idea.
The 'sanctuary city' thing sure sounds like a grand humanitarian gesture, but it'd be a lot more humanitarian if the same do-gooders and sympathizers were themselves to travel to the troubled countries and get at the heart of the problem.
If other countries weren't such wrecks, there'd be no illegal immigration to begin with.

I think we should welcome legal immigrants, but legal immigrants only. Illegal immigration is a big problem, and the solution to it all will likely be complex, and drawn-out. They have this thing where towns and cities can be 'sister cities' with their basket-case counterparts, and provide school help etc. where it's really needed.

At the end of the day, we're stuck tolerating whatever these people decide. I just hope that there's less grandiose posturing,
and more concrete assistance given to countries that need it, so that the cycle of cheap-labor/illegal immigration is broken.

Concrete, yes, concrete, that liquid rock magical stuff-thingie.
You can make entire buildings out of it, like hospitals, and schools, and what's more you can build those just about anywhere, like in Mexico and points beyond, where they're needed. But again, our 'city fathers' and others who've become
quite friendly with the illegals are to thank/blame for whatever outcome finally manifests itself out of all of this. I think failing budgets will finally decide the matter, when cities start to go broke because of pursuing failed policies, the voters will stand up and say 'no mas' en masse, and at that point they'll have to give up some of their more egregious bullshit...like welcoming half of Mexico to move in.

Casey Said:

why Obama could not bring himself to endorse his White friend over the black man Stroger?

We Answered:

Well you have put some new thoughts in my head about Obama. I don't like him and will not vote for him.

Norma Said:

Since when did the State of Illinois start using "invisible ink" to mark their ballots?

We Answered:

It's something that's oozed over from Ohio... the Ken Blackwell School of Vote Suppression. They're trying out new tactics for November since the change machine programming, make voter identification very hard for minority and elderly voters, intimidate voters and have touch screens count votes wrong tactics used in the last two major elections have been overused. The people who are poll workers represent a cross section of political opinion, and while we appreciate their service, there's no intelligence or ethics tests so be careful who you listen to.

Most important, register and vote so such large numbers of people vote for the best candidates that there's no way any schemes can work and the people will be heard this time.
