Current Election Polls

Ricardo Said:

Oklahoma voted against Obama more than any other state during the election. A current polls shows JC Watts to?

We Answered:

Some people left of center made rants about racism. Not that many, and most of us didn't. JC Watts is very popular and should win the governorship.

Sam Said:

Current polls and upcoming election?!?

We Answered:

You can follow the polls and read summaries of the latest election news stories at Newser. Here's a link to the Election section:

Emma Said:

Regardless of current polls, who would you like to see running in the general election?

We Answered:

Dennis Kucinich vs.Ron Paul.

Both men are honest and truly believe in their positions, even though Ron Paul is insane.

Kucinich would make a great President and his wife would be the hottest first lady of all time.

Scottish Election: The Greens - how well will they do considering the variability of current opinion polls?

We Answered:

There are a number of factors to keep in mind.

First, the Scottish elections are under PR (not "first past the post").

Secondly, opinion polls have a statistical error of plus/minus 3%. So, an expressed opinion of 4% actually means it lies somewhere between 1% and 7%. For the smaller parties, therefore, nationally taken opinion polls have little or no value. Whereas you can gague much about the support for the main contenders, it tells you little about the true standing of the rest.

Finally, many voters want rid of Labour. A vote for the Tories is wasted (even their manifesto states that they do not seek power!) and a vote for the LibDems is a vote for Labour by the back door. Many will switch to the SNP and some may not vote at all. So the Greens will probably pick up some of this "protest" vote.

It would not surprise me if they picked up 10 seats, mainly from the regional lists.

Discuss It!
