My belief is that the people (uneducated masses) who came out to vote for the nation's first Black President will sit this one out because Obama is not up for re-election. In 2012, though, those fools will be back at the polls.

I have a feeling that they will because in my highschool (eugene oregon) which is very liberal some kids that used to be obama supporters are now against him. i mean i dont expect the whole country to act like this but this is a little sample and I just have a feeling this is how the rest of the country thinks.

good prediction...but only if they buy those seats. at current pace, the democratically controlled congress and presidency is poised to bring this country to the verge of collapse. i don't see too many people jumping in to support that sinking ship. and for the record, i'm independent, not republican. i just don't like the jump/switch in obama's policies, and i have absolutely zero faith in success by throwing money at a problem.

The US House of Representatives:
The current line-up in the 111th Congress: 257 Democrats, 178 Republicans,
Safe seats 198 D 137 R
Favored seats 32 D 23 R
Leans 28 D 14 R
Toss-Up 3 seats
Projected make-up of 112th Congress
258 Democrats
174 Republicans
3 Toss-Up

As for the Senate:
Current make-up of 111th Congress: 60 D 40 R
Seats Up in 2010 18 D
Seats Up in 2010 18 R
Which means that 42 Democratic Senators are not affected by the 2010 elections;
22 Republican Senators are not affected by the 2010 elections.
In order for the Republicans to win control of the Senate, they'd have to win 29 out of 36 Senate races.

The Republicans need to pick up 39 seats in the House and 11 seats in the Senate. That has only happened once.
