I actually had to look at your profile and review other questions and answers you have given to determine whether you were being serious or not. Apparently, amazingly, you are. I'll give you Lincoln, although the GOP of today would be unrecognizable to him, and Hayes was more of a placeholder, but seriously, Grant?I HOOVER, for Pete's sake?!?!? Grant's administration is considered to be one of the most corrupt in US history. And Hoover dithered while the country collapsed into the Great Depression. At a time when spending money was necessary to get the economy going, Hoover decided it would be a good time to balance the budget. Eisenhower was a solid president, but not a great one, and Reagan is vastly overrated. Bush 41 wasn't too bad, either, but his son is on track, according to the majority of historians, to replace Buchanan (yes, a Democrat) as the worst president in American history.

Further, as Link suggested, don't you think it's more than a little coincidental that the Republican party chose this particular time to elect it's first black man as head of the RNC, particularly since there are zero -- ZERO -- black US Senators or Representatives who are Republicans. As was evident from the Republican convention, the GOP is primarily a party of white people. Unless the GOP somehow manages to add a little more "color" to their palette, they will not be "in position" for 2010, 2012, or any time.
