I think that while the first answerer is right that coalitions necessitate comprise from the parties involved, the fact that the Lib Dems have been shown to have essentially discarded their public promise on tuition fees in private quite a considerable time before the election, and yet failed to give any indication to the voters that this was an issue on which they would compromise calls their integrity into question.

How can a democracy effectively function if the public cannot know what they are voting for?

There was some speculation there would be a re election at the end of the year, if the coalition collapsed. Perhaps they were brushing up their manifesto in case of that? Although both sentences have practically the same meaning.

I believe people have the right to free speech, even if it is disgusting and racist, like what the BNP spouts, I just don't get how people are so ignorant and stupid to vote for them. They promise things they wont actually provide because they will be so preoccupied with, and spending all the money on TRYING to get all the foreigners out of the county (They never could, all hell would break out and it would break too many laws.)

I think with parties like these, the best way to discredit them is by laughing at them. Arguing with them just makes them spout more lies, and makes them think they are credible politicians.

What election is scheduled for "4/2010"? Here in America our politicians are already campaigning (getting their lies ready) for November, 2010 elections. If they can't be "ready" by then, they shouldn't be running.
