Election Polls Australia

Andrea Said:

Should there be a time limit on delivering policies before an election in Australia?

We Answered:

they can always change their policies after they are in power

now there is a peter garrett quote for you

so does it really matter how late their empty promises and policies come out?

Lawrence Said:

Australia: Should RUDD exercise the Double Dissolution option and call an election on climate change?

We Answered:

I still worry about the people who are in denial .. or the people who place money over the climate issue.. I'm afraid that there will be enough of them to lose the election for Rudd...

to me .. if we don't try and sort out this matter.. it won't matter re the economy because it will be well and truly rooted through the argicultural industry collapse etc...if we can't feed ourselves because we haven't been able to adapt our industries as fast as the rate of change we're $crewed....

Debra Said:

Is it just me or is the US election shaping up to be a repeat of the election in Australia last year?

We Answered:

I'm living in Australia also, the difference is that the Australian polls are a better guide line to the Election result oppose to the US. The Australian polls are generally only 1% off. Where as in the US the popular vote doesn't really count due to the electoral college system. Unlike the seats in Australia which count regions on average of 100,000 voters. Example a Candidate that wins California gets 45 seats. They may win the sate by 2 million votes. The fact that indivdual votes don't count (in regions of the state) it is hard to gauge these polls. Also voting is not compulsory in the US so people polled or supporters of a candidate might not even vote. If you held a poll in each state and worked out the electoral college system, you then would have better poll results.

Theodore Said:

We people of Australia think coalition government will win and must go to the polls, what do you think?

We Answered:

Er, your question implies that that the election hasn't been held yet. The election was held on August 21 and after a deadlock, today the Labor party was able to form a minority govt based on the support of three independents and a Green.

Gillard dumped no-one. The Labor Party dumped him. made Those members are popularly elected. The Prime Minister isn't.

I know English is not your first language and that's fine, but you do have to understand that under a parliamentary democracy, everything that has happened in the last few weeks is perfectly democratic.

Bertha Said:

What Does John Howard need to do to win the election?

We Answered:

Be himself. I think hes a fine man, and person. He needs to be louder than he is, though. An honest man doesn't always win the battle, but they do win the war.

Billie Said:

I got fined for not voting in my local election in NSW Australia what is a good excuse to get out of the fine?

We Answered:

Generally people who do not want to vote (or are too lazy to take 30 mins out of their day to do it) come up with their excuse beforehand. You could try to cite a religious reason or a family emergency but you'd have to offer some proof.

You could also claim some kind of medical condition as a reason for it, but the same rules apply, you'd have to prove it. Maybe you should just pay it.
