Irene Said:
PM Brown announces date of General Election tomorrow. Are you thinking 'Yeah, whatever'?We Answered:
I think no such thing....Its you that is thinking...."yeah....whatever".Lauren Said:
What happens if a party's presidential nominee dies days or weeks before the general election? We Answered:
The person has died so they will have to choose another presidential nominee. This is the way the politics works.Loretta Said:
Why isn't there just one primary date, like there is just one date for the general election? We Answered:
For two reasons that I know of.One reason, is because these primaries are incredibly expensive when you consider that each candidate has to rely on their own personal fund raising, rather than help from their party. If you look at how much money Iowa and New Hampshire have cost, even for candidates like Huckabee who have spent less than others, it's incredibly expensive. It would be nearly impossible to do that in each state all at once. (It's more possible in the General election because the party and donors are able to focus on one candidate).
Secondly, If primaries were done the same way as the General election, candidates would just be zig zagging to each of the main cities like LA, NY, Des Moines, etc...rather than campaigning in small towns and communities...because with little time and with limited resources, they would only be able to focus on the highly populated areas. By just zoning in on a couple states at a time, candidates are forced to include the small towns and otherwise "off the radar" zones.
Deborah Said:
Could anybody predict the date of the next General Election? We Answered:
The last possible date is June 3rd, otherwise the Queen can dissolve parliament. However, there is now speculation that Mr Brown could call a 'snap' election for March 25th, given his latest recent pitches for popularity like baring his soul. Watch this space! As for the likely winner, I think the Tories will carry the day if for no other reason that people are fed up with the lies and part truths of the current government.
Pedro Said:
what is the set date for obama and mccain debate for general election? We Answered:
You can never get a straight answer on here.....Currently, only three Presidential Debates have been scheduled for 2008:
September 26, 2008 at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi
October 7, 2008 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee
October 15, 2008 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York
On June 4, 2008, Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party's Presidential nominee, in an official press release, invited the Republican Party's presidential nominee, John McCain, and the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, Barack Obama to weekly presidential debates.
One vice-presidential debate has already been scheduled:
October 2, 2008 at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri
