The reason they do so well in Scottish elections and so poorly in national elections is that some Scots will throw away their national vote as a protest against Westminster, while most Scots are more serious. But in regional elections, many more Scots believe that Scottish nationalists should be more responsible for running Scottish affairs.In other words, Scots think one way regarding the government of the nation, and quite another way to the idea of governing their region.
