Local Elections 2010

Fred Said:

Do you really think that not voting in elections, local or otherwise, achieves anything?

We Answered:

Hewow :)

I've been thinking an awful lot about this lately. Up until very recently I would berate anyone who didn't vote..I know it's cliched but it's true..women died so I could vote.

However I am so appalled, sickened and disillusioned with the whole lot of them that I can't see myself giving any my vote.

I think the saying that " Every country gets the Government it deserves" is true though.

The whole country is aghast and incredulous at these expense claims and the sheer naked greed and lack of integrity of those who are there to serve us , those who we assume to have entered political life to make a difference.

They have been found wanting but how are we any different? We all squeak loudly over the banks, our house prices, pensions NHS..BUT in the last 20 years our disposable income has gone up by 63 %. SIXTY THREE PERCENT.

So I do agree with your point about taking these people on but I think we all need to look to ourselves and ask what we actually want from them? Just to be richer? For our money to be safe? It's seems to be all about individual concerns. Does anyone actually want a fair society free from want and dysfunction ?

i'm only using this to illustrate a point ~ We pay our GPS £120,000 pa and our social workers £26,000 pa. GP''s are reluctant to be involved and have no real training in social issues concerning those such as families like that of Baby P. What the hell do people want? To see a public execution( so many posts on here concerning that child are all about how the awfulness has made THEM feel ) or to make sure there are no more baby P's? Instead of challenging those in power like you suggest and putting all their energy into that..they want to know where this child's ashes are and how they can hunt down the perpetrators..WTF?

If we don't start to care and resource those things that benefit society as a whole things will never change! MP's will just be mere extensions of those they serve...greed is prevalent. Reap what you sow.

EDIT-Kew - re-read my answer and the pertinent point. I said 'in the last twenty years 'my answer is nothing to do with a party bias and has everything to do with rampant ' what about MY money ' which you just demonstrated admirably.

I have an idea on how conservatives can run in the 2010 mid term elections and beyond ?

We Answered:

This is a great idea. However the neocon leadership of the GOP doesn't agree. It will be their downfall.

Toni Said:

Political parties are gearing up for the 2010 election. What will you do to change the system?

We Answered:

Trying to get Gay people to understand that the only party that loves them is the Libertarian Party.

Follow behind all the Acorn workers and hand their victim a note that says, "We can't promise you welfare we can bring business that will give you a job"

Arthur Said:

What is the most important issue for you going into the 2010 elections?

We Answered:

E. other. Which party and their candidate are trying to do something and which party and their candidate are just trying to block anything getting done?

Aaron Said:

Elections for 2010! need help please?

As noted by the other answer, there are a lot of elections this year.

The GreenPapers.com has a list of most federal and state-wide executive branch races this year.

All 435 U.S. House Seats are on the ballot in November

36 or 37 Senate Seats are on the ballot in November.

Approximately 30 Governor's races (as well as other state-wide executive positions) are on the ballot.

In 46 states, all state house seats are on the ballot (and in most of those states half of the state senate seats are also on the ballot).

In many of those states, judicial races and county races are on the ballot too. In a handful of states, there may also be city or other political subdivisions on the ballot as well.

The best way to find out is to look at your state secretary of state or election board website and also to look at your local election authorities website. At this point in time, almost all state election authories and the majority of local election authorities do have websites with this information on them.
