I am not sure how much credentials you do have at the moment that enables you to contest and proove that you would be a better candidate than the others. I would still encourage you to figure out your own strengths and your agendas and then compare it with other contestants of National/state parties. All the BJP had to do was to keep quiet and project a humane side to themselves...If they had done that people would have voted to them for a change atleast..but they were just too loud and started getting involved in uncouth and ugly activities...they they simply blew it ....

I am a normal Indian citizen and this is how I weighed in my vote this election...If BJP has to win elections... it has to win over people like me...

the NDA'a strong points were
1. They have brought economic growth in all the states they ruled.
2. They have a strong foreign policy.
3. A tough stand against terrorism.

But the NDA's weaknesses are
1. Their stupid attitude towards muslims in India-- Many of the BJP supporters themselves say Muslims dont have any right to live in India and they should leave India and claim all muslims are all terrorists.
2. Congress may be well known for corruption but atleast this time they managed to get a group of ministers with a clean image in important portfolios like defence minister,A.KAntony. We all know what happened with George fernandes and pramod mahajan etc. We have seen the corrupt faces of Congress politicians because they have been in power most of the time. Similarly if we give BJP the power they will also show their corrupt side. But unfortunately the memories of key recent corruption scandals like George fernandes and Mahajan are still fresh in memory while there havent been any major recent corruption scandals in the UPA regime in the last 4 years.
3. Modi factor. Eveybody hates him because he instigated the violent riots.

Above all I couldnt find a clear ideaolgy within BJP supporters....their party agenda says they are not an anti-muslim party and they only proposed the name of Abdul Kalam for the post of president..but most of their supporters have a strong anti-muslim sentiment. they say all muslims must leave India. I dont know who to beleive.

And even their top leadership began to take up uncouth and ugly mudslinging tactics...

The recent events that come to my memory regarding BJP is the beating up of women in Blore, Gujarat Riots, Varun's stupid speech and mud slinging from Advani. All this gave me a very bad image about BJP.

If the BJP corrected its stupid idealogy towards muslims in India and projected a little more normal and humane image of themselves, then I would have voted for BJP. But they started behaving like wounded psychopaths.

I am not a big fan of congress or the UPA...they are corrupt losers... but after all the recent events thats happened concerning the BJP, I developed a severe hatred towards it and its supporters...I didnt want to see another set of communal riots tearing apart my people...so I thought UPA is the lesser of the two evils....

Also I guess the some of the rural development programmes might have worked slightly in favour of congress...
