Depends at the moment maybe 45 in the house and 9 in the senate. If things keep going south for democrats it could be 50+ in the house and 10+ in the senate.

The 2010 elections are basically a way for the people to tell Obama what they think of him. If they elect the incumbents back into office, that means that the people think Obama's doing a good job. If they toss the rascals out, that means that they don't like what he's doing.

The worst that could happen for Obama is both the House and the Senate becoming Republican. Obama would be forced to abandon a bunch of his more leftist dreams and focus instead on building bridges instead of burning them. Unfortunately, his first year has consisted of alienating every Republican representative and Senator (Get outta my way so I can get this change in here). He's going to have a lot of issues if the Democrats get tossed out.

If the Republicans get into the House and Senate, then it's just a waiting game. Stall everything Obama is trying to pass, and wait for the voters to put a Republican into the White House.
