Primary Elections 2010

Oscar Said:

When are the 2010 primaries and elections?

We Answered:

The dates for primaries are set by the various states. Depending on the state, the earliest primaries are in February with some states having primaries in September or (for run-offs) October.

The general election will be held on November 2nd.

A good site for keeping track of who may be running for Congress or state-wide offices (and when offices are next due for election) is thegreenpapers.com.

In many states, the Governors races are held at the same time as congressional elections (and Presidential elections in presidential election years). Four states (New Jersey, Virginia, Kentucky, and Louisiana) hold their elections for governor's in odd-numbered years.
