Gop 2012 Candidates
Duane Said:
Who is the most likely GOP candidate for 2012?We Answered:
Mit Romney or Sarah PalinDarryl Said:
Which GOP candidate for 2012 has the widest electoral appeal across the political spectrum? We Answered:
You just know that flake Palin's gonna make a bid & win,.......perish the thought (even if she IS a looker).
Eleanor Said:
Are Democrats so obsessed with the concept of Sarah Palin as a GOP candidate for POTUS in 2012 because ?We Answered:
The JIG is up - when it comes to Obama. With FOX and CONSERVATIVE Radio - looking out for us - like our PRESS is suppose to be doing... people has access to the kind of LIES and SPIN that expose OBAMA as the "leader" he really is.
When you can't fight the message... what else remains? You have to IMPUGN the MESSENGER.
That's why you'll always see "uncivil" personal attacks against Brewer, or Palin or Jindal.
They're scared. They should be.
Ivan Said:
Who in your opnion, would make the top 3 candidates for the GOP to run for President in 2012?We Answered:
Who I think and who will likely be the one's are two different train of thought-but here goes: Who I think would be the best are none of the one's people know well, i am hoping we see some new faces step up. I have nothing against your three choices, all would do better than what we have, but here goesHuckabee-his Fox News show, some stuff with his son's activities could be used against him-i rate him about a 25% chance of winning the nomination
Romney-I do not think the Mormon faith of his is a big deal with most folks, but it will be with some, and anyone who is older who may not have been fond of his dad, could move behind the scenes against him-but i give him a 50% chance
Jindal-he may be a seemingly good choice, but most will pass him off as the Republican Party purposely running him because of his ethnic background, i think he would be an excellent VP and eventual President-but i do not think he can pull it off as top person.
Palin-no one want's to bring her name up, but she will be a force to reckon with-like her or not, she will be a power broker, if not trying for the nomination-and if shut out-she could cause a Third Party bolt from Republicans if not taken seriously by GOP hierarchy.
Jeb Bush-yes, another Bush, the establishment of the GOP might grasp onto him because of name recognition.
Michael Steele-he knows his days as the GOP chairman are over, he also will never get anything office wise back in his homestate of Maryland, he will try or have a major impact on the nomination
So, this is why I am hoping we see some new faces and names rise up-i think someone like Romney as the President with a decent, clean record newcomer as a VP might be good-or the opposite with Jindal. Now Romney and Jindal together might be the thing-but unless Palin and Tea Party folks approve-it will get flack.
Lillian Said:
Are there any attractive GOP candidates with a real chance in 2012?We Answered:
The only wars in US history that elicited large protests were Vietnam and the Civil War. Both occurred because of the draft, a high death toll, and a sense that this wasn't a war worth fighting. We are unlikely to see much protest over Afghanistan. However a military defeat in Afghanistan is possible and would be a total disaster for the Obama administration. Were that to happen before the 2012 elections, Obama is finished. The Republicans will be able to run a cartoon character and win.
I don't see Howard Dean as a candidate. The Republicans would have a field day shredding him. Hillary is dicey. To run she will have to resign from State. Lose and she is back to being an ordinary citizen.
As for the economy, you are probably right about continuing problems. I expect unemployment to be above 12 percent. The housing crash has probably run its course. Other problems are in the queue. Inflation versus deflation, hard to say. A high degree of monetary instability is more likely. The ultimate paralyzing force would be the widespread perception that it could turn sharply in either direction.
As for who will win. It might be less an issue of the Republican candidate and more one of the incumbent being sacked.
Another wild card is a third party candidate. An independent run by Sarah Palin could completely scuttle the Republicans.
But if you want names:
1 - Mitt Romney
2 - Rudy Giuliani
3 - Tim Pawlenty
