In the last thirty years or so, rational discourse and logical reasoning have not always been a strong point in the GOP.
Since Obama has been elected, it seems to have gotten exponentially worse.

Because many conservative pundits and analysts and just much of the country in general has very much noticed that the republican party has drifted away from much of the tenets of conservatism.
You know, the personal freedoms, small government, lower taxes, spend conservatively, support the constitution etc..

This is no secret, and these candidates know it.
