Gop Presidential Hopefuls 2012

Jacob Said:

Will Romney get another chance in 2012? Will the Religious right block him again?

We Answered:

No. The Religious Right in the R Party hates his guts.

Now, if Romney would stuck to his principles and run to the center he would stand a chance. He can be anti-abortion and anti-gay personally, but when it comes to the laws of the land he should be pro-choice and inclusive. Nut cases don't fair well.

Natalie Said:

Who will the 2012 GOP presidential hopefuls be?

We Answered:

My guy is Bobby Jindal!

Danielle Said:

A question about the frontrunner for the 2012 GOP nomination...?

We Answered:

Glad to see you've thrown in the towel on '08

Alice Said:

Would Republicans like to see Palin win the nomination over other GOP Presidential hopefuls in 2012?

We Answered:

For goodness sakes, I hope not. Sarah Palin is one of the primary reasons why I didn't vote for McCain this election season.

Her "golly-gee willickers" folksy charm and milf-like good looks may have impressed some, but I saw her as an air-headed cheerleader who McCain picked in order to help his electability instead of picking based on their qualifications as an administrator. Throughout the campaign season I saw nothing even remotely intelligent about Sarah Palin, and unless she was reciting Republican talking points (which have been the same old Republican talking points since Reagan first used them in 1980) she was a fish out of water.

There are a couple of candidates who are in the talks at the moment. Mitt Romney is still around. Bobby Jindal is being touted as the Republican Bill Clinton. And I hope Ron Paul, the only person in the GOP who's actually still a conservative, runs again (though he'd be 76 by then). Jesse Ventura also hinted at his own 2012 run, and Jesse is someone who I'd love to see run. He cleaned up Michigan good.

Mitchell Said:

What was the first political attack on Obama after his 2004 DNC speech?

We Answered:

Andy Martin started up the smears against Obama in 2004.

The "Obama is a Muslim" story came from the Republican side, originating with Martin, Obama's opponent in the 2004 Illinois Senate campaign.

BEGIN QUOTE

"I feel sad having to expose Barack Obama," says Martin, "but the man is a complete fraud. The truth is going to surprise, and disappoint, and outrage many people who were drawn to him. He has lied to the American people, and he has sought to misrepresent his own heritage.

Fiction: Obama was given an 'African' name. Fact: Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion....he has treated his Muslim heritage as a dark secret. His grandfather was named 'Hussein.' That is an Arabic-Muslim, not African, name. Hussein was a devout Muslim and named his son, Barack Senior, 'Baraka.'

END QUOTE

The email began circulating not long after Martin's news conference, and was propagated in Debbie Schussel's opinion column.

Martin stated again later that he had started the "Obama as a Muslim" rumor...

"Yes, in 2004 I reported that Barack Obama had been a Muslim. I’m glad the L.A. Times finally caught up with my August, 2004 writing. I'm also glad all of the mainstream media around the world have, piece-by-piece, confirmed my original, and very controversial, reporting in 2004. Why did I have the story then, and they didn't?"
