Meaning Of Gop In Politics

Everett Said:

Has the GOP got its Tax Politics Right?

We Answered:

Al H is WRONG! These tax cuts for the wealthy produced HUGE DEFICITS and did NOT create jobs (Picker, 2009), nor did the wealthy actually SPEND the dollars they gained from having to pay less in taxes. The NUTJOB Republican party wants to harp incessantly on not spending "our children's future" by growing the deficit and, at the same time, add $700 BILLION to that Republican-caused DEFICIT! What sense does that make?? Answer: NONE.

Picker, Joshua (2009), "Before the Bush Recession: Supply Side Tax Cuts Failed to Deliver Jobs or Income Growth Between 2001 and 2007." Washington D.C.: Center for American Progress.

The OUTSOURCING that the Republican party FUNDED by giving tax breaks to hugely-wealthy corporations who helped DESTROY our U.S. economy by leaving is about to be DE-FUNDED by the Democrats, who are voting on a bill to END the GOP-granted REWARDS (tax cuts) for these wealthy corporations and re-issue tax incentives for the companies who COME BACK and hire American workers! DEMOCRATS are BETTER for our ECONOMY and our JOBS BASE! Republicans have their priorities bass-ackwards!

Katherine Said:

I want to get into politics (meaning I have to choose a party) but every political test I take contradicts?

We Answered:

Don't vote based on parties. Vote based on policies.

- These are your socially liberal views
I support Gay Marriage
I'm Pro choice
I believe climate change is man made
I would be for legalizing marijuana

- These are your fiscally liberal views
I was for the bail out
I would support more money going to education, environment, and medicine/science/technology

- These are your socially moderate views
I think Religion has no place in public schools
I am for looking for a better way to legalize immigrants

- These are your fiscally moderate views
I am against all of the wasteful defense projects
I do not support cutting taxes with out first cutting spending
I am for free trade
I think Social Security needs to be smaller and only need based at that

- These are your socially concervative views
I support the death penalty
I support the second amendment

- This is your one your fiscally conservative view
I was against the health care bill

I would say you are more liberal than conservative, but only by a hair.

You might be the type to vote Republican one year and Democrat the next. You really can't trust any one party to represent you because you do not fall along party lines. I am in Texas and it is less important to pick a party here because you can pick which primary you want to vote in regardless of your party affiliation.

Ana Said:

What is different today between the GOP hate/fear strategy and McCarthyism of the late 40s/50s?

We Answered:

there is no difference - Americans need a a target of aggression so we don't have to deal with real issues - fear is the number one weapon of the right

Emily Said:

Should Bill extending Unemployment Benefits be passed – should GOP be ‘thanked’ at voting polls if it isn’t?

We Answered:

The Republican party continue to block a extension for unemployment benefits for out of work Americans while whining and asking where the jobs . They can't have it both ways pretending to be for working class American but always refusing to help these families in their time of need .There will be another wake up call at the polls in 2010/12 for those republicans who haven't lifted a finger to help their constituents in their states .

Alfred Said:

What does the Elephant in the room mean refering to politics?

We Answered:

The 'Elephant in the room' in an analogy, it refers to an issue that is, in fact, of great and unmistakeable importance but which is being willfully ignored by everyone present. For instance, the Iraq War could not be termed an Elephant in the Room, since everyone is hotly debating it.

* Is there enough of a schism within the Republican Party to finally push the U.S. into a three party system?

No. The electoral system of the US makes a 'two party' system inevitable. If two dominat parties don't emerge, the 'third party' will 'split the vote' of it's idealogically nearest rival, allowing the other party to win handily, even with a minority of the votes. The US would have to change to a 'parliamentary system' - one in which parties can form coalition governments - in order to make third parties viable.

*What does GOP mean?

Grand Old Party

Debbie Said:

What does 'GOP' mean?

We Answered:

GOP stands for "Grand Ole Party" Republicans are associated with the GOP.

Pro-life =against the legalization of abortion
Pro-choice= for the legalization of abortion
This is a 'hot' issue in American politics

Liberals (Democrats) tend to pro-welfare, pro-choice, anti-guns, anti-war, and favor higher taxes.... They are also known as the left wing.

Conservatives (Republicans) tend to cut funding for welfare, pro-big-business, pro-guns, pro-life, lower taxes, more willing to declare war... They are also know as the right wing.

Each party has a platform (litany of tenets) and planks (break down of each individual tenet).

A bigot is a person who hates someone based on prejudices (i.e., race, ethnic group, etc.) All bigots are idiots, but not all idiots are bigots. :)
