Michigan Republican Party

Elizabeth Said:

McCain conceded Michigan. Party is unhappy!?

We Answered:

For the first time since I can remember, the Republicans have less money to spend this year than the Democrats. Years ago lots of big contributors would give money to both parties, to hedge their bets, but in the days of Newt Gingrich the GOP actually forbade their contributors to give money to the Democrats. So this shows you how badly GW Bush has damaged the party's reputation.

Money is short and now time is also growing short. McCain's best chance to get traction on Obama, to gain back some points, was the debates. Lots of Americans waited until the debates to make up their minds--I heard it reported that going into the first Obama/McCain debate 18% of Americans were still claiming to be undecided.

So under the circumstances, the McCain campaign sees that it has to pick its battles carefully. They're almost certain to lose Michigan no matter what. When the economy catches a cold, the auto industry gets the flu. So they've decided to use their scarce resources, their money and time, elsewhere.

Palin is entitled to her opinion, if she has one, if her comment wasn't prompted by her handlers as a 'parting shot'. It shows that they GOP hasn't 'given up' on Michigan, they've just decided to put their money and time to work elsewhere.

Lena Said:

Could the Republican party be any more divided?

We Answered:

This election is simply a national referendum on Obama. I do not support McCain. He is a moderate, and I am conservative Bush was a moderate as well. Palin is only marginally better, but needs more experience. Although I believe she has more experience than Obama has. I believe I will be voting for McCain because I believe Obama puts America last.

James Said:

Does the Democratic Party deserve the White House?

We Answered:

If this campaign is any indication of what we could expect from the Dem's should they win the GE, it doesn't bode well for us. the DNC has created such a mess trying to dictate to states how to run their own primaries, then punish the votes who exercised their right to vote. they said they would not be counted..now they have to find a way to 'gracefully' worm out of the rule they made. it wasn't too democratic to me.

the level of hatred of Obama and his supporters for Hillary, the level of hatred of Hillary and her supporters for Obama, and yet we are told that they will come together and unite us as a nation....i guess i believe in miracles but this one really is a stretch of the imagination to see there will be any unity.

Obama has touted he can bring the nation together, again Unity..yet his campaign has brought to the surface the ugly race issue and divided us as a nation. yet again, we are asked to believe he will or can bring unity.

clearly, if they cannot run a campaign in a democratic way, we have no hope that they can run this nation to our benefit.

Carrie Said:

Why does the leadership of the democratic party think they have the right to tell the Florida and Michigan?

We Answered:

It is their party.

Kathryn Said:

Who's decision was it to move the Florida and Michigan primaries to an earlier date?

We Answered:

all parties.

the republican officials may had decided to move up the date in FL, but the democratic members of the DNC in that state approved of it.

and it was the democratic leadership in MI who moved up the date.
