I don't know if the cause is side switching, but I certainly think that the fact the democratic side is still really close and could go either way has encouraged people that their vote DOES matter and that they SHOULD go out and vote. On the Republican side, where's the motivation to brave winter weather and nasty traffic snarls in a contest that's already decided?
