Before 1993 it was military policy which could be over-ridden by executive order. But in 1993 a law was passed. Executive orders do not trump law.

It was a strange law:
1) It gave reasons - absent from much of the debate today - for not having openly gay members in the military.
2) It allowed gay people to serve as long as they did not make it an issue in the work place.

Zero to none.

And here's why:

1. President Obama is a lawyer and he has TAUGHT Constitutional Law.

2. Every legislation, before it became the law of the land, had lawsuits against it.

3. With that in mind, this bill was written to make sure that it did not violate the Constitution.

4. Furthermore, if the GOP took the time to READ THE CONSTITUTION, they would have found out that the government has the right to come up with laws that will prevent this country's economy from going under. And as everyone has agreed, our current health care system was a burden on this country's economy.

5. Finally, the GOP is trying to say that the government doesn't have a right to demand that everyone gets health insurance coverage. Well, all one has to do is look at the precedents already set. For example, every state demands that everyone has liability insurance who drives. Additionally, everyone in the car must use seat belts.

So to go in and argue that the government has no right to demand that all are covered is ridiculous. It's a waste of time and money, and those who live in the state where their governors are suing need to tell them to get over themselves and stop wasting time and money over a done deal.

I think the country through social justice, political correctness and corporatism is too far gone for anything to work.
I still think if the country literally collapses so we can shake off all the baggage we can possibly restore the country to a true American Republic, minus all the socialist entitlement garbage.
