They didn't. Palin was put on the ticket to appease and embrace the religious right. That she might attract some very confused under informed female voters would have been a benefit but the main reason was her close relation to the hard Christean right. McCain wanted Lieberman but the religious "folks" swore to fight him at the convention.They played the female card of course for everything it is was worth (Moose hunter echoing some Hillary lines being instantly booed by the GOP loyals) but they knew the feminist vote would not go to an American Taliban
