Anti Liberal T Shirts

June Said:

Many Republicans say that Liberals don't fight for the rights of Christians. Is that really so?

We Answered:

As one generation replaces another we forget history. Hitler was right wing. And the Soviets and Red Chinese were supposedly far left. The latter were in fact just as fascist as the nazis. The ACLU and other organizations do represent the unpopular, but they are a vanguard against totalitarianism in this country. They are constantly on watch for infringements on our constitutional rights. The GOP would like nothing better than to be able to rewrite the constitution to suit their own agenda. The greatest threat to our civil liberties to have appeared in the past century was the presidency of George Bush and his side kick Dick Cheney. The reasons Christians have the freedom to worship according to the dictates of their conciences is because of the tireless efforts of liberals such as the ACLU.

Lonnie Said:

why are public school teachers allowed to shove their liberal ideas down my throat?

We Answered:

I don't know about your particular state, but in Illinois, public teachers are expected to be held to ethical standards (yeah, yeah, Illinois ethics jokes, go ahead), just like every other state employee. Among other things, state employees are not allowed to endorse or work for or have anything to do with politics during the course of doing their job. That means as a teacher, any time I'm in the school building, I can't wear any political propaganda or speak positively or negatively about anything political, and I take that very seriously. If you run into me at the grocery store and I'm wearing my Obama t-shirt, so what? On the other hand, having an unbiased discussion about something in a social studies class, for example, is OK, as long as the teacher doesn't take sides. Things start to get a little gray there, but you get the idea.

If your state has something similar to this, your teacher is clearly breaking the law, and you need to talk to an administrator about it.

I agree with you, stuff like this has no place in the classroom. A teacher's personal views have no place in school. As en entity of the state, any semblance of a political preference by a public employee during the course of their work represents a conflict of interest and an abuse of their access to state resources, whatever they may be, to promote a private political campaign.
