Bachelor Liberal Arts Degree
Brad Said:
Do you really know someone with a Liberal Arts degree who can't find a job or do you just hear that on the net?We Answered:
Yea I believe it. I have two BA's and one is in education. I have been looking for a job since January 2008. THERE ARE NO JOBS. It makes me mad when I hear everyone saying to get a degree in education because you can get a job. Unless you teach High School or Special Education you can not get a job, at least in New Jersey.Claude Said:
What will my bachelor degree from a liberal arts college(Middlebury) mean in real life?We Answered:
If you investigate, I think you will find that there are number of degrees out there for which there simply are few (if any) jobs. Most of the degrees in question are in arts, humanities , languages and so forth. I'm not disparaging the degrees, but the job market dictates whether or not you stand a good chance to make money in it.Many with such degrees wind up in occupations that aren't remotely related to their original field of study.
I'd go for the harder sciences, unless you flat-out just cannot stand them.

What can a college graduate do with a Liberal Arts Bachelor of Arts degree? We Answered:
a lot of employers just want you to have a degree soyou have one and you may be hired
these degrees are becoming more valued for the multifacited and broad knowledge possed by the individual with the liberal arts degree
it's not a bad choice if you unsure what you want to do or if you plan on getting your masters degree in something

Value of a bachelor's degree in LIBERAL ARTS?We Answered:
You ask a good question which deserves better than a trite answer.First, yes, a good liberal arts degree is a good degree to have. A more focused and applied degree (commerce, engineering) will probably enable you to get an entry level job paying better more easily than with a liberal arts degree, agreed. But the point is that a good liberal arts degree is education for the long run not training for the short run. As well, as with any any degree but more so than for any degree the value of a liberal arts degree -- what you can do with it -- depends on you. What do you want to do with it? If you get, say, a BA (History), sure you can do more study and become an historian. But you can also work in a literacy program or get a job in a bank, train as a pilot or go to law school or tons of other things. So too with other degrees but in this case the content of your degree has less prepared you for one thing than it has educated you for many things. It has given you a depth of understanding and a range of understandings which will serve you well in a whole variety of circumstances.
Good luck.

How many jobs could I get with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts?We Answered:
I had a Liberal Arts college experience. It prepares you for many future endeavors that include critical thinking, communication, and reasoning. It can help you become a very well-rounded invididual who can eventually go into a more specific skillset.I had to take psychology, history of SE Asia, theology, sciences, math, and a language. My background prepared me for many challenges, but the best teacher in life is experience! As soon as you can get out there and get a job in ANY discipline, you will soon find yourself moving up the corporate ladder.
You could become a teacher, news anchor, graphic artist, multimedia developer, public servant, attorney. You could work for the government, a non-profit organization, a university. You could work for the UN if as an interpreter if you learn a language. The sky is the limit! Good luck with all the possibilites. And to answer your question - zillions of jobs!

Does the University of southern california have a Liberal Arts degree? We Answered:
If you mean one where "Liberal Arts" (all liberal arts) is the major then you'll find it as the BA in Interdisciplinary Studies http://www.usc.edu/dept/publications/cat…If you mean "a liberal arts degree" (one that requires a foundational core in the liberal arts) then most bachelor's degrees at USC are liberal arts foundational.
If you mean "in one of the liberal arts" - they have plenty.
Be sure you understand the vocational value (it has little except for teachers) of a bachelor's degree with the major of liberal arts. It's a great way to gather a very broad education but has no direct application to most workplaces. It's most valuable to those folks who simply need to check off "has a degree" or for those that won't be needing a job but want to be educated.
add: Liberal Studies = Liberal Arts = General Studies = Interdisciplinary Studies = 'Arts and Sciences' etc...
Unless you mean Liberal Studies as in the context of the socio-anthropological study of people that identify as liberals.
