how many pakistanis surrendered in the bangladesh liberation war?We Answered:
We all along heard that it was about 93,000 Pakistani military personnel who were stationed in the East Pakistan surrendered to the India-Bangladesh Joint Forces in the Bangladesh in Mid-December 1971. I got the following from Internet search:Quote:
Pakistani military leader in the then East Pakistan Lt. General Niazi surrendered along with 93,000 of his troops on 16th December 1971 to the India-Bangladesh Joint Forces led by Indian Lt. Gen J.S. Aurora.
Later, in 1972 the 'Simla Agreement' was signed between India and Pakistan. The treaty ensured that Pakistan recognized the independence of Bangladesh in exchange for the return of the Pakistani PoWs. India treated all the PoWs in strict accordance with the Geneva Convention, rule 1925. It released more than 90,000 Pakistani PoWs in five months. Further, as a gesture of goodwill, nearly 200 soldiers who were sought for war crimes by Bangladesh were also pardoned by India.
The Bangladesh Liberation War was a war between West Pakistan (now Pakistan) and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), from 26 March until 16 December 1971. The war started as an uprising in East Pakistan led by the Mukti Bahini. Indian support for the rebellion resulted in war between India and Pakistan, during which the Indian military and East Pakistanis decisively defeated the West Pakistani forces deployed in the East. The war resulted in East Pakistan's independence as the new nation of Bangladesh.
Un-quote.
Hope above helps!

How is the 1971's Bangladesh liberation war portrayed in Pakistani textbooks? We Answered:
Pakistanis are in a denial mood over what atrocities their soldiers caused in Bangladesh. I was born and brought up in Pakistan where my Bengali parents lived till 1971. I saw the Pakistani people at close range and still having communication link with my ex-teachers and colleagues. What I found is that a fraction of enlightened Pakistanis know what barbaric act was committed. They would portray what Indians did to destabilize Pakistan (that is also true), but would never reflect back on their own Generals and politicians (Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto) for the breakup of the union.
I answered a question from one presumed Pakistani (may be an Indian Muslim, not sure) whose following Question may give you some idea that how much darkness these people are still living:

The Asker got deleted my Answer to his another Question asked as follows:
Question: How many negroes are there in USA army, particularly on key posts & what is their status in industries ?

Hope the next generation of Pakistanis would come forward and repent for what they did to the then East Pakistani (now Bangladeshi) Muslim, even though Muhammad Ali Jinnah gave the West Pakistanis the gift of land called East Bengal at that time.
PS. The weekly Herald and Daily Dawn Newspapers used to write some facts and publish a few pictures back in 1971, and then came under the fire of the government of Pakistan and had to shut their mouth for fear of their life and property.

what about social structure change in bangladesh after liberation war in bangladesh? We Answered:
Since I really can't define any social structure change, all I can say is that political corruption is growing. While razakars are dictateting and enjoying leadership.Sharon Said:
why did india get involved in Bangladesh liberation war?We Answered:
Pakistan attacked their air fields in a suprise attack. Indira Gandhi used this as a casus belli against Pakistan. Also there were 10 million refugees crossing the border into India (they opened their borders to let the Bangalis across), so they also needed to stabilize the situation.
