I think the largest misconception is that you are fully liberal or fully conservative. There are social and fiscal aspects. For instance, I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I am pro-choice (cuz it's none of my business) and I don't care if you smoke a joint in the comfort of your own home. I hate that our tax dollars are wasted and believe that all or part of what we put into social security should be privatized.

Conservatives insist day after day the sky is green. Liberals create scientific instruments to demonstrate conclusively that the frequency of the light reflecting off the atmosphere is in the blue range of the spectrum. Liberals hold up green poster paper against the sky to show conservatives they are different colors, but the conservatives still insist the sky is green despite mountains of evidence to the contrary. We waste countless hours arguing about things that should be obvious to any sensible person.

That's my analogy for our dysfunctional political environment. Not until conservatives are taught how to use the tools of science and reason, abandoning their myopic ideology, will our society progress.

My main thing is for my child to be happy in life. If their spouse makes them happy( besides having different political views) then I would be happy for them. Love makes a marriage,not politics.
