first of all i love the fact that you have backed your agreement with evidence... but as a pro-choice (please finish reading this just because you dont agree dont ignore me) i believe that as a girl, as a women i have the right to choose... i am not saying that as a pro-choice i believe that abortion is right... i do believe that it is morally controversial and if i ever did get an abortion then it doesnt mean i wouldnt be thinking whether it was a right decision to make or that i may not regret it... i do believe, though, that abortion does have its beneficial reasoning. let's say you were a girl (idk if you are or not) and you were raped and you found out that you were pregnant and there was not way you could support your baby, or you would want to keep it but couldn't bare to see it because it constantly reminded you of the rape.... well then your counterargument would be then put it up for adoption... which is great, but then you think about, what if it (I say it because i dont know the sex, i am just giving examples here so dont patronize me because i said it and i am not thinking that the unborn baby is a human being) doesnt get a good family, what if it lives in foster homes its entire life.... or what if you and your spouse are trying to have a baby, but you found out that the baby would have some serious or even minor disabilities or genetic condition. why let that child go through all that pain and suffering?
now you talk about that when the cells are alive, then they are human... well first of all the word is potential.. they are cells that can potential produce a baby... the question is when is potential turn into actual... these cells at the moment the sperm and the egg united and start forming cells are stem cells... these cells have the potential to turn into any other cell.... with in 4 to 6 weeks these cells are turned into what ever kind of cell is needed, for example, blood cell, skin cell, white cell, ect... so then scientifically, the cells are not potentially human until after 4 to 6 weeks.
now if cant say that you are against abortion and accept stem cell research.. but i think it is foolish not to believe in stem cell research because of the medical break through it could bring... so many diseases could have cures and so many lives would be saved... now sacrificing cells in order to use them for good and save many lives, wouldnt that suit a good purpose?
not every women would want to have an abortion no matter what situation they are it, but if women do have an abortion, wouldn't you want those cells go to good use just as stem cell research.. it wouldnt be throwing a baby away because it would be going to good research...
if you say that abortion is murdering, then what about fertility clinics... every year, the clinics through away about 400,000 eggs/cells. and also every year those eggs and sperm are in the freezer, they are that much closer of being dead... so then wouldn't the government be murdering, or how about your neighbor who wanted to have a child and gave enough for three trials but the first trial was successful in being fertile, so the rest gets to sit there hopelessly dying... those are cells too...
what im saying is abortion is not right but if used for good intentions then it isnt so wrong either... if we use the cells from abortions and fertility clinics that go unused for stem cell research, then the possible medical breakthroughs from the research could save many live... many someone you love

and about the government thing about legal or not... its to protect you from yourself and the people around you
