What types of jobs should a liberal arts major with no clue about what to do in life look for?We Answered:
That's the problem about liberal arts - you get a degree then don't know how to get a job and don't have particular skills for technical jobs. And, jobs are scarce.I'd suggest that you sign up with some temporary agencies (Kelly Services, Ajilon, Manpower, etc.). Sign up with several of them, unless one of them has a job ready for you when you apply (then you'd already have the job by the time you left, so no need to sign up with others right away). They'll mostly look for computer skills - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc., so make sure you have these skills. And I would sign up with several agencies because then you have a better chance of being called in for a job.
It is only going to get you a temporary job, but at least you'll get some experience and earn money. And it will let you see what you may want to do, or else what you definitely don't want to do.
Meanwhile, maybe you need to go back to college and get training in some field where you can specialize and earn more money. Get a CPA or something.

Liberal Arts vs. Business Majors? We Answered:
I guess it's a toss up. Some employers prefer business graduates, others liberal arts graduates. i.e. I read an article in Businessweek magazine a few months ago that suggested Google hires more liberal arts grads than Business grads. Both a focused business education, and a general liberal arts curriculum have different results. A business graduates may be able to do the nuts and bolts of a specific job better, especially early in their career. A liberal arts grad may be a better thinker, communicator and problem solver, as their education was designed to make them think critically.
But, largely your major doesn't matter for your job. Of the friends I graduated with a decade ago, many are in fields completely unrelated to their major: (Major/current job) Music/Bank Manager, Communications/Military Officer, Communcations/Physician, Anthropology/Massage Therapist, History/Police Officer. So, my conclusion is that major doesn't matter. Perhaps internships matter more, but either way, I suggest majoring in something that inspires you. Your college experience and GPA ultimately will thank you.

Jobs/UGA/Liberal Arts Major?We Answered:
Jobs are tight right now for anyone. You need to do some volunteer work for experience and keep knocking on doors. But even better IMHO is do a vocationally oriented Masters with a high job placement rate. Don't worry about the prestige of where you study - it is their success in placing graduates that counts right now. Thanks

A good job for a liberal arts major thinking of Law School? We Answered:
I would be a paralegal in a law fir, I'll warn you though, many who do that before going to law school change their mind about going once they see what lawyers really do all day. But that's all the more reason to take the job for an up close look.
