Marian Said:

Library Sciences from a Liberal Arts degree?

We Answered:

You need to look at their (the colleges your looking into) requirements.

Also, make sure the college is "accredited," otherwise your degree will be worthless outside of Michigan and perhaps even within Michigan...

Check out the http://www.ala.org/ website for accredited universities and the university's website for undergrad requirements.

Roland Said:

What is an associate in liberal arts - Behavioral and Social Sciences degree good for?

We Answered:

I don't see much use for it except as a degree in its own right.

But since you'll be transfering into nursing, focus on that goal as the scope is much higher.

Teresa Said:

What's the difference between Social Sciences and Liberal Arts?

We Answered:

It sounds as though you are Australian and although I'm American, I would like to offer some advice.

What you describe aren't really courses--they are programs of study which comprise many difference courses.

Social science is a part of the liberal arts curriculum. The liberal arts curriculum comprises social science, humanities, math, science, and so forth. Examples of social science include psychology, sociology, anthropology, and economics. Success at social science requires some skill with statistics and quantitative data. You should be good at identifying cause and effect, especially when it is indirect. You should also be free of prejudice and have an open mind. In general, social scientists study people and their behavior.

The term liberal arts is more general and includes such subjects as literature (and writing), history, philosophy, religion, math, music and art, and all the sciences. Typically liberal arts does not include nursing and health sciences, business, and highly specialized and/or technical fields.
