U.S. News college rankings out of how many schools?

We Answered:

Hmm...I'll be honest it's not a great ranking. I say this because the most common ranking is the National Rankings, which usually lists the top 75 with like Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc. Then they go into categories like top Masters Universities, Business Programs, and Liberal Arts Colleges. And while 108 isn't bad seeing as there are only about 266 Liberal Arts colleges (I'll leave the source below) that's really not that good. Especially if you look at it from a bigger perspective. Unfortunately a lot of emphasis is still put on what University you go to, ie the well-known ones. And sometimes people will get offered more job opportunities based on that alone, even if you may be the more qualified candidate.

Ashley Said:

Which liberal arts colleges are known to have a strong english program?

We Answered:

The quality of a school's English Department is highly correlated with the overall quality of the school. Therefore, the list of best liberal arts colleges for English is pretty much the same as the list of best liberal arts colleges. US News ranks liberal arts colleges. See the first link below.

The second link is a ranking of top graduate programs in English. These schools all have excellent undergraduate programs. Schools like Duke and Stanford only have about 6000 undergraduates. Most classes at these schools have fewer than 20 students.
