im looking for liberal arts colleges in NYC?

We Answered:

Pratt isn't really a liberal arts college. It's more of a specialty school, which offers just a few specialized majors. Liberal arts schools tend to be small, and offer a lot of "traditional college" type majors, such as English, history, art, music, art history, economics, classics, and so on.

Liberal arts colleges (or undergrad focused unis) in NYC include Wagner College, Hunter College, Barnard, Marymount Manhattan, Manhattan College, College of Mount Saint Vincent, Brooklyn College, Queens College.

When you apply to colleges, do apply to some which have lower sticker prices, but also apply to a couple that you love, but which are expensive private schools. See where you get in, see what financial aid they offer you, and then decide. Certainly, if your academics are at the level of a place like Barnard, then apply! Barnard and other elite unis offer *amazing* financial aid, if you have financial need.

What are good liberal arts colleges in New York?

We Answered:

NYU is one of the best film schools in the world, but it's very hard to get into NYU's film program.

I'll list some really great colleges and universities in NYC and right near the city, which are a bit easier to get into than NYU. Some of them offer film as a major, and some do not. But I list even those who don't offer film, just in case you decide to major in something else. But have a look at: Fordham, SUNY Stony Brook, Hunter College, Yeshiva U, Rutgers New Brunswick (maybe too far away?), Manhattan College, Wagner College, and Marist (also maybe too far?)

Others, maybe a step below those I listed but academically solid, would be: Pace, Marymount Manhattan, City College, Brooklyn College, Queens College, Long Island U CW Post Campus, College of Mount Saint Vincent, Seton Hall, and Baruch.
