Paul Said:

What courses could a liberal arts major (like me) take if she might also be interested in finance?

We Answered:

If you want to learn Finance, you ought to take the following (at a minimum):

One or two accounting classes
As many math and statistics classes as you can stand to take
An introductory course in Finance
A course in corporate finance
A course in investments.

Elsie Said:

What's the difference between humanities & liberal arts courses?

We Answered:

It's not a hard and fast difference. It's unusual for a school to classify subjects that way. Check your course catalog. It should tell you which courses count toward which requirement.

Wilma Said:

Why do you think liberal arts courses are important in college?

We Answered:

Liberal arts courses, if taught properly and engaged in fairly, are liberating. That is why we call them liberal in their nature. A liberated mind is free to explore without boundaries or fear. The liberal arts give us a sense of our history and our past as well as our present and our future.

If you limit yourself to career or major courses, you restrict your mind. You might make a good worker some day but your chances of becoming a visionary leader have been severely limited.

Give yourself a chance to "take a giant leap outside your mind," as Taj Mahal once said in a song.

Ida Said:

Bachellors degree in business with associates in liberal arts?

We Answered:

If you have taken classes that will transfer for courses needed to get the business degree then you won't need to retake them. I would imagine that you should have a decent number that would transfer, but the only way you can find out would be to find a list of transfer equivalencies at the four year school that list what classes you have taken at your CC will transfer and for which of their classes. It varies based on the schools involved, so there isn't really any way to know unless you contact them.

Zachary Said:

Are there any Universities don't require Engineering students pass Liberal arts courses with C?

We Answered:

Brown University does not require any students to take any courses outside of their majors.

Lawrence Said:

Which big universities also require liberal arts courses?

We Answered:

Most schools require that you complete general ed requirements, which includes some liberal arts classes.

For example, I go to NC State (graduating in a few weeks), which has an excellent engineering program. They require all engineers to take english, psychology, sociology, and such classes. Plus, you have some limited free electives, which you can spend in any discipline you choose.
