What you described sounds like a nice college to me. It would be great if all colleges had a nice campus and open-minded and diverse students. I would think colleges with a lot of diversity would have to have open-minded students.

I'm not sure what the "diversity index" is, but I think it's how diverse the college is. It might help to start there and then look at the websites to look at the campuses.

If you feel strongly about any of them, try to make a campus visit at some point. You'll probably figure out soon whether or not the students there are open-minded, and you can ask them about the quality of life there.

Liberal arts majors include English, art, theater, music, the humanities and social sciences, the hard sciences, math, and computer science. Most liberal arts colleges don't offer the majors that you need to take an exam and become licensed to work in the field for, like engineering, nursing, and accounting. But some do. You can do anything with the liberal arts, even go to grad school for something like nursing or engineering.
