Like what? Abortion? Taxing and spending? Gun control laws? Ever increasing government regulation and red tape on big and small businesses? Rent control? Nanny statism? Higher taxes on tobacco? Increases in benefits and salaries for government employees?

Every school has some sort of speech codes - for example, you can't threaten to kill your professor without expecting some kind of retaliation (like getting expelled). What do you mean by 'abusive professors'? Ones that don't give you A's for the minimum amount of work? Ones that don't let you go on and on about your religion in a class that doesn't relate to it?

AHHH I see what your problem is, you think Republicans are conservative. Sorry, guess again. There are very few politicians that subscribe to conservative philosphy. Understand, politicians would be out of work if they followed conservative ideology. Ron Paul said while he was campaigning something to the effect of, "by the end of my first term I would have nothing to do because the federal government would be nearly shut down, we wouldn't wage needless wars I would be basically irrelevent if my platform took hold". Politicians from both sides of the isle have to increase the role of government so they remain relevent.

It's just an indicator of how partisan the USA has become. That conservatives treat the term 'liberal' as an insult and dismiss any 'liberal' issue is very sad. Global warming, for example, is treated as a 'liberal' issue and thus dismissed by many conservatives despite quite possibly being the most important issue in the history of mankind.
