Stay in California or move back home to the midwest?

We Answered:

Heya, kudos for following through with your dream! Cali is a hard place financially to be right now, and considering the cost and the fact that it's not a perfect fit, I would recommend looking at other states for school (the Ohis option sounds promising). You might try calling or talking to some teachers or administrators at Catholic schools you are interested in, to see what their requirements are. Also, if you can go to school in the state you want to work, you can start networking from early on.

As far as singing, you don't have to be in Cali to get discovered. You can record a demo in any state in the US, or go the "indie" route and record your own ... Look for a digital recorder at a music shop, then look online for a used model of the ones you like to find it cheap. Or, if you have the notion, you can go super indie and pick up an old 4 track analog recorder at an antique store or yard sale. Also, studios are much cheaper in the mid west, or even in the northwest (in Portland, studios charged 10 dollars an hour, if you can record and mix a demo in 2 days, that's pretty cheap). I suggest playing coffee shops in your college town and working up some word of mouth. If you write your own songs, you can even sell CDs at shows. The great thing about college towns is that you have a captive audience, and the college band circuit has a life of it's own, and is becoming a goto place for big studios to pick up talent.

Good Luck!

Where should I go to college?

We Answered:

Consider Washington University in St. Louis, Vanderbilt in Nashville and Emory in Atlanta.

Do I have this straight?

We Answered:

What do I think? I think it's a sad state of affairs, indeed... Not that Obama could (and hopefully will) be elected... But that small minded idiots that believe everything they read in the papers or see on the news may just put a republican in office, yet again... I'm not going to waste my time trying to educate someone that is going to come in here shouting their biased BS with a closed mind and a horrible attitude, but I will address one thing... The budget/taxes... Of course he wants to raise taxes. Are you aware of the fact that 25% of our national debt is held by Japan and (communist) China? Are you aware that the republican party has doubled our national deficit (up to almost 10 trillion dollars now)? How do you think we're going to pay for all of that? How do you think your retirement will be paid for? How do you think your kids will be able to afford to go to college, considering how the prices are going up every year? Did it ever occur to you that lowering taxes and increasing spending (as McCain has promised to do with his proposal to stay in Iraq until 2013, continue to pay for their expenses once we're out, build 25 more nuclear facilities and put out 2 billion per year for the idea of making clean coal a reality [and that's just the tip of the iceberg]) is NOT going to fix things?

Keep thinking the way you are and we'll be worse than a democratic socialism... We'll be outright communist and we'll be paying our taxes to the Chinese government...

***EDIT***

justdafacts: Thank you. Both for your "vote of confidence" and your clarity of thought and sensible post...

How do you think a judge would rule in this custody case?

We Answered:

The mother needs to explain that the child is not receiving proper supervision under his father's roof (point out the father's busy schedule and that the stepmother does not appear able to care for or supervise the teenage boy (don't say she doesn't want to but that she is not well enough to)). Point out that under his father's roof, the child has had sex, and experimented with illegal drugs and alcohol.

The mother should state that she believes that with the father's busy schedule, the reason for the child's change in custody is not to build a closer relationship with his father but to escape proper supervision of his current custodial parent. And that the mother will only consider a change of custody IF: a) the father reduces his schedule so he can properly supervise the boy, AND b) the child agrees to court-ordered RANDOM drug and illegal drug testing and signs a contract agreeing not to undertake any illegal acts (including underage sex) while under his father's roof. As all of that is lawful, the father can have no good reason to object, although I expect the 17 year old boy will.

One last thing...the younger child is 17 and he will be an adult and can do as he pleases in less than a year. If the mother's lawyer is able to drag the court case out long enough, the father may only have a few months of custody prior to the child's 18th birthday. Start off by asking for court-ordered drug and illegal drug testing to be done on the 17 year old child.

Good luck!

Which other High School teams will Florida and Texas be playing in the coming weeks?

We Answered:

Hosti1e1-
You are such a tool! TCU and Cincy were two of the best teams in the country. To compare them with FSU and Hawaii is dishonest at best. Chatty was a replacement game also.

I'm a 21 yr old high school dropout, and want to achieve some kind of education. How,where, what should i do?

We Answered:

For the GED, try (620) 417-1310 in Liberal. They do the tests so I'd think they know where to get the prep classes. And I don't know the drug of choice but try 1-800-559-9503; it's an addiction hotline. Wish you were with me. A lot of my co-workers have overcome this type of situation (most of them coming out of jail).
