They think everybody is against them. They think liberals run the media, newspapers, magazines, and even infiltrate our schools! Conservatives see themselves as underdogs, good guys fighting against an opressive machine. That is why they hate the government, yet they get angry when we criticize Bush. They think CNN or MSNBC is biased yet they think FOX news is informative without any bias. To them the word "elitist" is disgusting despite the fact that elite universities have educate some of them. They prefer normal and ordinary to elite. They see liberals are people who choke their freedom and want to abort every born child in America! Then, they say is liberals who have conspiracy theorists. Yeah, right.

The political 'bias' of magazines is probably due to the history of the magazine business, both here in UK and USA.

Many famous mags started life in the 18th and 19th centuries and were published and edited by left of centre liberals.

Here is one of the English Speaking World's most famous magazines. The 'Regency Buck' on the front cover (top left) tells you everything you need to know about this mag. from it's foundation anyway.

We would have a more ignorant nation than we have now. I don't believe it to be a good thing even though it would undoubtedly favor the conservatives as their demographic is more likely to pick up printed periodicals. What would the liberal populace do without getting their news on comedy central?

The "liberal media" is exactly what its name implies: media (tv, radio, newspapers, etc) that carry a liberal bias.

bias is an unfair preference towards one side of an argument. for example: a television show talks about (for this example) a debate between presidential candidates. if said television show were to place more emphasis on the strengths of one side and the weaknesses of the other, they could be considered biased towards the side they built up.

i would be willing to bet that most news media carries a bias towards either liberal or conservative ideals. for example: fox news is noted as being strongly conservative.

the only real way to avoid bias is to read your news from several sources. remember: there are always two sides to every story.
