Hello Mr. Mrs. Ms. Liberal. Are you open minded?

We Answered:

I'm a regular viewer of PBS's "News Hour" with Jim Lehrer, but I also listen exclusively to NPR in my car whenever I'm driving somewhere. National Public Radio was the very first to broadcast the troubles with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac back in 2004, and they did several follow-up broadcasts on the dangers of economic collapse well before the economy actually DID collapse. The MSNBC channel is a favorite of mine since they've added Rachel Maddow, and I also like "The Ed Show" (he's a bit too liberal at times, but a decent guy), "Countdown", and the early news broadcasts (4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.). C-SPAN1 and C-SPAN2, which show gavel-to-gavel coverage of both the House and the Senate proceedings is an excellent resource, and they are also the very best for watching public events (President Obama's speeches, for example) because there is no editorializing. Katie Couric is highly intelligent, so I often enjoy her news broadcasts on CBS, and I tend to watch the Sunday talk shows ("Meet the Press"; George Stephanopolous, etc.), just to monitor "The Republican Noise Machine" propaganda efforts (Brock, 2004) and stay in touch with current issues. I also make a habit of reading most books that come out that expose the corruption, greed, cruelty, and incompetence of the Bush/Cheney and Republican-led House/Senate years. "FRONTLINE: Inside the Meltdown" offers an excellent overview of the economic collapse.

Paula Said:

what is media? How does media influence a society? newspapers?

We Answered:

The NYT is among the most liberal papers in the country. I'm not sure who told you otherwise, but they were mistaken. I can't imagine finding enough NYT articles that even approach the center enough to support the thesis that they are a conservative paper.

Here, this might help:

Republicans & Conservatives: Is the Liberal media not giving the American public real news?

We Answered:

Yes, they are giving news. I hope. But there are also political commentary segments with each news outlet. Some are more informing than others.
