Juanita Said:

What exactly is the difference between a Liberal and a Conservative?

We Answered:

About $50,000 a year.

Bobbie Said:

liberal/conservative?

We Answered:

As already said those arent parties but anyway...

On a related side note, I hate when people pull out a dictionary definition of liberal and try to apply it to politics...

As long as we are clear.

Conservatism =
less taxes
smaller goverment
less government intrusion
minimal social programs
among other things..

Liberalism =
social programs a plenty
no tax cuts spend it on something
more government intrusion unless its for defense
a multitude of pork barrel projects.

of course those just touch on a few principles and doesnt even come close to fully describing each.

These days a politicians party tells virtually nothing about his ideology of how liberal or conservative he is.
Look at the politicians' record, how they vote on issues, what they say.

I personally am mostly conservative but not across the board.
I dont like saying middle of the road. but I guess I am moderate-conservative. Middle of the road kinda implies that you cant make a dicisions about anything. which may or may not be the case.

Unfortunately as far as the current R's and D's go. They all seem to want to spend spend spend.

There is a reason so many people will do anything to get into the USA. Capitalism and free enterprise work.
Goverment will never do something better than the private sector can.
So as such, socialized medicine is not the way to go.
Social security and medicare are mismanaged and there is tons of waste and loss. again it would be better off to be in the open market.
the tax system and the IRS has become a bloated mess of a myriad of laws that could be simplified and taxes reduced.
Everyone should pay the same percentage of taxes.

Few politicians are conservatives in most senses. And few of them are liberal in the classical sense also.

Gwendolyn Said:

What makes some states more liberal and others more conservative?

We Answered:

Culture. The rural states tend to be conservative because the people there are more self-reliant, stoic and austere.

States with a larger urban population are more socialist, not liberal. Socialists have fraudulently taken the label "liberal" when liberalism is actually antithetical to their policies; but they prefer that label to theirs. Most people today say, think, and believe whatever they like, regardless of any truth to it.

Jefferson futilely warned that bringing heavy industry here would bring hordes of people conditioned to taking direction and dependent on someone else for a wage. That's what we have now and those are inclined to socialism.

Liberalism advocates: individual freedom, weak government, and free markets. Conservatism advocates: moral responsibility, strong government, and protected markets. Socialism advocates: social responsibility, omnipotent government, and controlled markets.

Pamela Said:

What is the conservative and liberal approach to multiculturalism?

We Answered:

Conservative - Accept all cultures and appreciate differences, but always have one unifier of all the cultures.(english language)

Liberal - Accept all cultures and appreciate differences, but don't have a unifier of all the cultures.
(Bilingual culture)

Toni Said:

What is the difference between a conservative and a liberal?

We Answered:

A conservative wants to benefit from the fruits of his own personal labors.
A liberal wants to benefit from the fruits of the conservative's labor too.

Paula Said:

Liberal Conservative?

We Answered:

This is not meant as a slam, as I agree with most liberal view points... MOST, not all.

Pro-choice (legal abortion)
Back ground checks for handgun ownership
Restrict or outlaw automatic weapons
Seeks a separation between church and state
Supports workers unions
Supports many social programs, such as welfare
Often accused of a "Tax and Spend" mentality in economic matters
More likely to support the rights of homosexuals
Supports the legalization of marijuana, especially for medicinal reasons

I hope this answers your question

Antonio Said:

What is the difference between liberal and conservative towns?

We Answered:

When it's conservative there are more hard workers and the economy is doing pretty good.

When it liberal there are more people on welfare and their government is broke.

There is racism, music and art everywhere.
