Seriously ~ Apart from everything else (you'll all have your own list), Howard's government is the first in Australian history to REMOVE rights from a particular group of people with no imminent crisis reason for it!

What I mean is, rights were removed from some Aussies during the World wars, by wartime governments, for 'security' reasons.

But Howard and his mob introduced the Marriage Act to remove the *possibility* of a sector of the Australian population (somewhere around 10 per cent, it is said), from legally petitioning for a change in the law AT SOME FUTURE TIME!

And Labor supported it.

At that time, there was no public avocation or agitation for same sex marriage, except in the most tentative or private way. There was NO open political or public discussion of the subject, no community consultation, no debate. There was some in-community talk, but no general populace discussion.

Just one morning, Howard woke up and said, hey, in ten year's time I don't want this lot to have the chance to do something I don't like. And he pushed hard ~ personally and politically ~ for the Marriage Act to go through.

So he doesn't like gays and why should anyone else care?

Well, it's like this ~ which ten per cent do you belong to? And, are you SURE whoever is in government won't hate YOU one day?

And, don't forget, lots of Jews DID vote for the Nazis because, like Howard and his 'Liberals', they didn't make their intentions known until AFTER they had power.

Hi Phil, Indeed it does sound a mess. First of all, Dubya must go. Just no room for bone (heads) at a BBQ. My suggestion is simple ... just spread a little extra sauce on the meat, give everybody chopsticks, and pour up some serious libations. I don't know how many or why gays would even vote Liberal/National anyway. I never have and never will until they change their prejudiced policies.

I doubt anyone would vote Labor either. After the last attempt of slandering the Coalition about the federal politician involved in gay baths and another male employee. This is supposedly from a supporting party of gay rights (to an extent).

Yeah I like your change to the quote - and it just doesn't have to be for gays. How about climate change, Iraq war etc and other issues we Australians with any sense fight for and against.

federal labor government isnt much better...... K Rudd.... said he would put a stop to rising intrest rates... so far he's 3 rises from 5!!
