You are definitely a Liberal. You may also fall into the N.D.P. camp, but they are farther left than the liberals and I don't see them getting elected any time soon. Since you are obviously against many of the Conservative ideals you will want to vote Liberal as they are the only true threat to the Conservatives. There is also the Green party, (very environmental) but again, they have little chance of winning.
*I'm not a true Liberal, but don't worry about what the conservative Americans say. They are not always the brightest bunch.

First off, ALWAYS stay informed. Don't just listen to what people on the radio say or write in the paper. Do your homework. I don't mean just school work, I mean politically speaking. Find out what people actually voted for/against. Find out what laws are actually working. For instance. If you look at the actual statistics, not the ones given on a left or right website; but the more restrictions you have on firearms ownership, the higher the crime rate will be.

--Unlimited abortion rights (no restrictions) -- So you're saying to go ahead and suck the brains out of a baby just inches before it's called a person?
-- Same-sex marriage -- contracts between one person and another can and does happen every day. Giving you full rights to the others business. "Marriage" is a religious ceremony done by the church. It would be up to them to allow this.
-- Universal health care -- So the government should pay for everyone's care? Where do you think they get the money from? I, being healthy, do not want to give my money to pay for some overweight and smoking slob.
-- Stem-cell research -- Stem cell research IS allowed. Just not government funded. The private sector can and does fund this.
-- No death penalty -- I'm still on the fence with this.
-- ANTI-DRILLING! -- OK, then allow us to put up wind mills, have our hydrogen cars, photo cells on our homes without going to court against it.
-- VERY STRICT GUN CONTROL! HAVE A GUN, GO TO JAIL! -- I'm sorry, but when seconds count, the police are minutes away. I think of a firearm as an insurance policy. You don't buy a fire extinguisher to use it, do you? No, it's purchased in case you need it. Just like health or life insurance.
-- Less strict immigration laws -- I can't argue here. It should be easier for people to become Americans and pay taxes like everyone else. But ILLEGAL immigration is very bad. And companies USE these workers for cheap (sometimes free) labor. Modern day SLAVERY.
-- No English as official language -- Why not, when I came here with my mother, we had to learn english to survive. Besides, just knowing the english language broadens what other immigrants can do. Also, it's the global business language.
-- Tax the rich much higher -- OK lets tax the rich more even though the top 10% pays over 90% of the taxes. Who would actually pay those taxes? It's not coming out of their pockets. They pass it on down to the consumer. If they can't pass it that way, they would lay people of because they can't afford to keep them.
-- STRICTER SEPARATION BETWEEN RELIGION AND STATE! -- The only connection that the government has to the church, is that this country was based on the fact that there is a higher authority. Having a higher authority means we have basic rules. Call it morals, if you wish. Without those rules, we could do anything we want. Kill, steal, not honoring your parents (you don't have to like them), going to bed with anyone you want. That's it.

Like I said before. Keep informed. And don't believe everything you hear or see. Check things out on your own. If you visit leftist sites, look at the right side too. Look at history and see what countries collapsed and which ones did not.

Greetings RealMe (from another Canuck on the loose in Deutschland).

I´m also a Can. living overseas, and just jolly-well happen to be a Muslim. According to this country´s opinion I could be a terror-suspect because
-I´m Muslim,
-I´ve studied,
-I have connections to a mosque here (I help with tours for non-Muslims...),
-I helped organise a Muslim´s Club at the Uni in Freiburg,
- I speak openly about Islam (I get invited to speak about my religion to church groups etc.)
-and I donate money to Muslim charities (eg. Muslim Aid - which is completely official, and documents every cent they get, and helps poor, orphans etc.).

If Germany can give lists like this to add to the Cdn. no-fly list, then I could also have problems visiting "home" this summer. If this is my homeland.... maybe I should start looking around for another one too.
